C64 was so frustrating sometimes. You wait 10 mins for a game to load and it doesnt. So you had to get your small screwdriver out, move the tape head screw a mm clockwise, then try again

The amiga on the other hand was a joy to behold, especially the old championship manager

The C-64 was THE computer back in the day.

For those of us with access to a c-64 disk drive, it was a different world. 10 mins loading you say, try 10 seconds. 1 c-64 5 1/4 floppy disk could hold about 6 games. The hacking/cracking games scene was Worldwide, with huge interconnected networks of people.

I remember when The Last Ninja came out, the programmers made a statement that it was " uncrackable" of course Weetabix, the code cracker from Scouse Cracking group had it cracked in 6 hours, and 6 hours after that via very basic modem, it had been distriubuted to 3 continents. Cracking groups pushed the envelope back then, a group called 1001 crew were the first ppl ever to use the entire screen of c-64, prior to that every game had a huge 2 inch black border around it.

All hail the Commodore 64 !


edit. also, back in 1985 - I hd a c-64 modem, and access to the "internet" at the time. "compunet" as it was called, had everything the net has now, obviously a little more blocky...

Cracking\Demo scene was the best on the c64. You had to have a disk drive, tapes were a waste of space.

mine still works !

ive got about 200 discs of cracked/copied stuff, half of em dont work now, but some still do, Winter Games for one, bobsleigh is nuts !

When I was 12 my wrist wasn't strong enough but now I am 32 and had 20 years daily wanking practice I could do 15,000 metres without breaking a sweat!
