All those CDs which slaughter TV or movie themes on some neutral sounding instrument. Find 'em haunting restaurants and stuff.

On the radio tonight heard toyah wilcox (ask your mum) doing sweet child o mine.... dear god sounded like she'd popped a hemmeroid was nasteh.

to be fair though some cover versions are as good if not better than the origional.

But that one wasn't. It was just, it was, how shall i put this? umm listening to it made me think i'd rather slide bare arsed down a cheese grater in to a pool of lemon juice than hear it again.

Im probly gonna get killed for this. but here goes:

I thought KoRn's version of One > the Metallica One.
And Rage Against the Machine's How I Could Just Kill A Man > Cypress Hill's version :/

2 Examples where the covers is better than the originals imo

Reminds me of watching Jessica Simpson sing Angels (the Robbie Williams song) at an MTv event. I'm not by any stretch a Robbie fan but she really hashed it up, she couldn't carry a tune in a bucket and I don't think she hit a single note. I still don't know which version I prefer though. Robbie can actually sing which is to his advantage but Jessica has breasts, it's a very tough call.

Five - We Will Rock You
Mariah Carey - Against All Odds

Some remakes though are brilliant. Best one is easily:

Another great cover is 'Hounds of love' by the Futureheads, 124981928 times better than the Kate Bush version.

In no way is that a better version of Kate Bush's song. They just simply tuined it. I cannot bear it at all.

are you serious? there's loads of great covers. the flaming lips version of "can't get you out of my head", the white stripes version of "jolene", "some velvet morning" by slowdive, "five years ahead of my time" by primal scream, "by your side" by the beachwood sparks. the songs on nirvanas unplugged album. the list goes on.

Made the mistake of watching some american idol.
Some guy with long fairy hair named Ace or something completely murdered one of the best songs ever Drops of Jupiter by Train.

I wanted to stab him to death... with a blunt object, for destroying the song :(
