Svartur/Svart and so on means black in most scandinavia countries. From a swedish point of view svartur would seem norwegian/icelandic or simply old scandinavian since the languages we're very similar around the viking days.

But, it might mean something completly different. /me awaits Svartur's answer

As shanks says it connects to the colour black and also sound very viking-like for us scandinavians anyway.

I am an old-school HL and CS player as [RD]Mr.Black then later on Ronin]-[Mr.Black or just Ronin]-[Black or just simply Black or Noir(french).

Point being my nickname has always connected to the colour black so it was therefore I found Svartur suitable in two ways.
I didnt think Mr.Black was very suitable for an mmorpg in medieval times.
