Heh

I know 99% of the population dont give a damn about player crafted weapons, but the remaining 1% might be pleased to know that I broke the 800 mark yesterday meaning I can make all weapons currently available in this patch. Worthy of note esp to shades is the diamond guarded rapier, slowest piercer and according to Aeiedel, adds a nice amount to PA compared to the quest dagger, or something...anyway its good.

As someone who has reached 500+ in weaponcrafting I have to congratulate you on your patience.

Whilst lately I have been having fun levelling, I do craft when it is quiet or have things going on in the background meaning I cannot really go hunting. Now that I am on Tier 6 materials, I not only have to run and get them from further away (or stock up in Innis when I am down that way) but also the skill gains are slow in coming. Both of these lead to a slowdown in rate.

I have also noticed that the profit margins seem to be lower with carbide weapons on tasks and I am sure I was making more money on cobalt (or is it the bulk buying meaning my cash is tied up in materials).

Anyway, with the speed 1.48 patch is coming out I may be at 800 skill before I have to worry about Tier 9 materials LOL.

The next patch and the tier 9 and 10 materials mean that the ping-pong fort Dun Crauchon will need to be held a bit more often as I believe that is where they are sold. Even more of a run now unless you get them and then run down to the bowl naked taunting albs!

Anyway, congratulations again. If spellcrafting does ever come in, then player made weapons will be sought after once more.

Actually the 9-10 tier materials are sold in relic keeps, which is a good thing because crafters take on a new role of relic guards

I believe our relic keeps are nearish the entry forts. Even so, the help of a few guildmates may be required especially with the lovely Midgard and Albion people who camp the road shooting people.

Certainly, any dedicated crafter character who hasn't levelled much will have a lot of trouble getting there.

Hopefully, everyone will realise the importance of crafters and help to defend these keeps, make them harder to take and keep the routes clear of invaders.

Gratz m8.. well done..
I've been working on getting my weaponcraft up past the 500 mark (which I did) and I can now officially be called mad .. like you :)

Weaponcraft is the toughest/lengthiest/most expensive of all 4 crafts, then armourcraft, then tailoring and fletching and I kinda know about this because I raised them all to respectable amounts. (800+ armour, 500+ tailor, 500+ weapon, 300+ fletching)

Think I'll be joining you in your relic defense initiative ort :)

From one (Journeyman) Weaponsmith to another, well done!

I'm stuck at 658: with no more tasks to do, it's hard to get a couple of hundred gold together to do a bit of crafting now and again, especially when the pesky albs keep banging on our keep doors and I spend it all on wood. I hope to pick up again when I've gotten higher level so I can get more money off the mobs I hunt while exping.

Oh my, very well done Ortunga. But pls do continue to craft that skill up. Since with the upcoming lvl 50 epic armors the only thing that will bite on them is the lvl 51 high qua crafted weapons. So you can expect me to be one of your costumers sooner or later :)

its really a pitty that u cant have NPC-player-run-vendors like in UO.

After a crafter reaches 650 they can't do consignment tasks any more, and since they can't buy the materials they need to continue gaining skill in Tir Na Nog anyways, there's no reason to go there any more. They usually go to Innis Carthaig down in Lough Gur where merchants sell crafting materials for the higher levels.

Apart from Ortunga and I, I don't even know how many Hibernian weaponcrafters are 650+. Eventually when GOA gets the Camelot Chronicles running it will be possible to see the names of all the high level crafters on their web site, or type /who weaponcrafter in game to see who's available.

At any rate, give me (or Ortunga, but I'm sexier) a message any evening, I'm usually around somewhere.

Ha ha, I have hijacked Ortunga's gratz thread to steal his business!

Definitely correct about Alrindel's post regarding the location of crafters. Up to 650 tasks are based in Tir Na Nog even if the material is not so it is a real pain but I would suspect that you will find a crafter of up to 650 skill there (unless they are powerskilling their weaponcrafting in which case they would probably be at Innis (I know I would be)). Whilst, you don't get tasks past 650 skill, I actually look forward to crafting in Innis as it means i am not running around Mag Mell/Ardee getting material in bulk so that I can do a few tasks at a time in TNN. That will save me time if not money.
