Graphics Card Tests

I have a Geforce 4 MX on a secondary PC (hence the not so good card) but it appears to be having problems.

Normal windows, mirc etc works fine but when I launch into "Asherons Call" in 3d mode game (yes OK OK sad git or what but what the hell ;) ) ---- after a random amount of time the game and PC crashes.

I have turned 3d acceleration off and the game works fine then.

But as supposedly far less powerful cards are able to render 3d in game (ive done it on a 16MB Voodoo 3) the MX should be able to.

So the point of the post ! -- Does anyone know any good downloadable software to test/stress test graphics cards so I can see if this is a general fault on the card or just something in that particular game it dislikes etc ?

Heh -- yeah I should have said --- being my 2nd PC I dont use it much as a gaming machine -- only AC really -- so the answer is I dont know. If theres no test software I know the next step is to try it but I thought diagnostic software would give me clearer results.

Hi lynchet

Personally, I'd put your problems down to the game or your drivers, rather than the capabilities of the card. Having searched through the Asheron's Call knowledge base (I'm assuming you're running the first one?) there seems to be only one relevant article. You may wish to try the suggestions it makes.

Otherwise, you can just try downloading the latest nVidia drivers and the latest Asheron's Call patch(es).

Kind Regards

Yeah it was that article that made we try disabling 3d

I guess it could be the game, just a pain as on my PC and others ive known it be fine with gf1, gf2MX, gf4 - 4200, gf 4-400, and voodoo 3 -- right pain if it just doesnt like MX -- but what can ya do I guess :(

Many thanks for the time you took looking that up tho.
