System:

MSI KT3 Ultra2 mobo
AMD Athlon XP 2000
Windows XP Home
PNY GF4 Ti 4400

Was playing Medal of Honour when screen went 'blocky'
Exited from game and machine crashed.

Upon re-booting saw 'red blocks / dots' on BIOS screen.
Windows XP logo displayed (screen slightly
corrupted again with blue lines) but then screen went black
and hung.

Re-booted in Safe Mode ok. Tried deleting and re-adding
GF4 card using 'Add / Remove Hardware' to no effect.

Tried reseating card in AGP slot to check contacts good. No effect.

Downloaded latest certified NVidia drivers (40.72)
which improved things slightly, machine now
boots but MoH still has blocks on screen, as does
CS, CS crashes when ESC and Resume used.

Still seeing red dots and blue lines on Bios screens
when booting using the card.

Next step is try card in old machine.

Is my card screwed or is just the drivers ?

Any ideas appreciated.

Sadly since drivers etc have no effect on the BIOS screen it would seem that you GFX card is screwed, however I would check that it is sitted in the AGP slot properly....take it out and put it back in.

Damn, that's what I feared.

I did try removing and reinserting in the AGP slot (I referred to 'reseating') and it had no effect unfortunately.

Ahh well, thanks for the advice. I'll have to pack the bloody thing off to be replaced now (only 4 months old).

Figures that I finally have the time to do some serious gaming over Xmas and the thing packs in.
