Graphical Problems

Hi there, while trying to setup DAOC on my new computer I have hit a stonewall into some wierd errors.

The game loads up fine up to the character selection screen where the errors start.

Errors:
- it does'nt render the characters image on the creation screen
- once a character is created it doesnt render it when you click on the character on the select screen.
- when you press the options button the background is there, but no text for the options appears.
-When trying to load into the game the loading bar completes then flickers, when it finishes its obvious the loading has done, but the game world or the characters inside it fails to render properly it all blurs into indistinguishable colours.

I'll tell you a little about my system, I have a 3.2Ghz AMD Semporon processor with 1GB RAM and a 32 MB GeForce2 MX graphics card, the graphics card is running the latest NVidia drivers (NVidia.com > Graphics Driver > GeForce and TNT2 > Windows XP / 2000) and I have DirectX 9.0c installed.

I am running the downloaded version of Shrouded Isles (Not the New Shrouded Isles) from the GOA website.

The GeForce2 MX is on the Shrouded Isles graphics card support list and I have played with it before without incident.

Any help in this matter would be greatly apprechiated, as I cannot really see what the cause of this problem is nor where to investigate this further.

A possible method to proceed would be to update my motherboard/BIOS drivers but I am unfamiliar with the process and do not know how to go about that.

Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly apprechiated.

Caelen.

Regular shrouded isles isn't supported anymore. You cannot play with that client. You'd better download the superSI one.

Also... a PC like that and with such a GFX card? I'd save up some money and buy a cheaper 6600 or 6800 if you're short on cash, or perhaps an ultra range card if your wallet is filled a bit better ;)

Thankyou for your reply, I may not have been clear in what I said, it is downloaded from the GOA website, the "Super SI" but there are 2 options there, New and one that isn't, this refers to the graphics engine. A new graphics card is definately on the agenda, but right now my desire is to play :)

Have you installed the chipset drivers?

It sounds like a driver issue or an incompatibility issue.
Also, is it an AGP graphics card?
