Recently i have been looking at the following device with increasing interest.
From what i have read it costs arond £100, features a colour screen, possibility to programme your own applications and games, for example emulators for old and not so old (hand held) consoles, it can play mp3s and video.
at just a little bit bigger than a gameboy advance, and not much more expensive, anyone think its a worthy purchase?

its not released in europe yet but there are many people offering "Engrish" versions for £100. I think i would wait until it came out here before i bought, mainly for technical support etc.

its allready sold 150,000 in Japan/Korea/<Asian country>!

Having a little handheld machine with all my favourite retro games loaded onto it (via emulators) does sound quite appealing.

Not to mention that you can stick a few mp3s on it :D

Bah. You've got me wanting it, now.

Yeah, they're great. I don't use mine much any more but it's about the same size as a GBA.

It plays mp3's, DivX ;), and pretty much any retro console and handheld you can think of.

There's a version of it out now with a built in light. you can get hold of them at www.gbax.com. They had intended to bring out a kit so people could mod their GP32's that don't have lights built in but it's never emerged. :( So that's why I don't play it so much.

EDIT: My webspace on pipex is dead slow at the mo but if you've got the patience then you can see my GP32 in pieces here .

one of my friends has one and seems to never have enough hard disk space to fit much on. I think it takes some sort of removable storage media so get a big stick of memery.

Yeah, it's a SmartMedia card and the max, for now, is 128 megs. But then if you want to watch divx on them you need to re-encode it so you can do a few simpsons episodes or something and make them quite small.

GamePark reckon they're working on a 256 meg card but it seems with all things they promise, they rarely deliver and even if they do they take AGES.
