Dear GOA,

After 11 months of camping, waiting, and lots of patience and timing, I finally got my guild to help me do Guard of Valor in the Green Glades. When we killed Danos, the GUARD OF VALOR artifact did NOT drop. Now, it is a ANYTIME drop, which means that it is supposed to drop anytime you do it. Please look into this, as I have really been looking forward to get this artifact. It is a bug, and thus I should think that you guys are able to make sure that I do get Guard of Valor, since it did not drop because of some bug?

this is not an answer but more a "WTF"

why did you not join someone's bg who was doing this arte and buy the arte? even money via ebay would of been easier.

i dread to think waiting 11 months to get 1 opportunity for GOV...

Maybe if you have a screenie of Danos dieing, and dropping stuff BUT GoV... other than that.. no they can't, won't and shouldn't help you.

Hello again,
No the encounter is not designed to drop the artifact everytime. There are two ways that a quest reward can be given, one in which the reward will ALWAYS be given and one where a random chance is involved. For the Guard of Valour encounter the drop relies on a random chance - a very high random chance, but random and not 100%.
The issue of pets preventing loot was fixed some time ago, it was never the case that a pet getting the killing blow would bug the loot but rather that loot rights could go to a pet instead of it's controller if pets did the most damage to the mob (as pets were not considered part of the group for loot distribution purposes). That bug was fixed about ten patches ago.

Dear GOA,

Is the encounter not DESIGNED to drop GOV everytime you kill Danos? And also, have you investigated if there actually was a bug involved with this? I have read of many reports of bugs in artifact encounters, when a pet gets the killing blow on the artifact mob. Can you please look into this, as the abomination (the necro's pet) got the killing blow?

And if you could get back to me ASAP that would be very good, thanks.

Thank you for the query. We have investigated the reported issue and can assure you that there is no bug involved here. Guard of Valour is not a guaranteed drop. There is a small chance that it will not drop when the encounter is completed.

I've done Danos about 40+ times and it has always dropped. Never heard of it not dropping.

Well that's what they say... and tbh I really don't believe them. I should ask Sanya from Mythic personally.

Believe it or not but that's how it works.
You can recieve an item in one of two ways. The monster can either have a script to give you the item when a certain trigger event occcurs (usually the monster's death), or it can drop as loot. If it drops as loot there is always a random chance involved, if it's scripted it can be random or guaranteed.
The random chance for loot drops can be very, very high (as much as 999/1000) but it can never be absolutely guaranteed. All guaranteed drops are given through scripts, everything else has a chance - however small - of not dropping.

Guard of Valour is dropped in the normal way and is thus random.
