That's a really good link, especially as I've just ordered a KG7-RAID ;)

One thing I can't find though, is how do you flash the bios to accept an Athlon XP, if all you have is an XP processor? Will the system still boot up with an XP, but at a lower speed, or will it not boot up at all?

Most mobos will boot at there lowest speed normally leaving you to sort the dip switchs or the BIOS(Softmenu 3 in Abits case).

I have the abit kg7 raid. After a bios flash, the cpu speed is set to the lowest iirc, then you change it in the bios. Not sure about the xp's, im running a tbird 1.4ghz on it.

I've tried my testing rig with an xp2000 and it booted fine but told me the chip was 1066mhz... interesting...

after a reflash it's now reporting XP2000+ lovin ;)

Bah! This upgrade is proving to be a right pain in the arse.

i've done everything right, well according to the above website anyway, and I'm still unable to boot past the ECD screen.

I've just flashed the bios to the latest but one, which seems a little better, and Win2K is installing as we speak. Once that's done I just have to hook up the other 3 HDs and CDRW, hopefully that will be that!

athlons should 99% of the time boot even if the system doesn't recognise the processor (as long as a) there is a processor in the socket and b) it's an amd) ;)

P4's are another story - I recently had to 'borrow' a 1.5Ghz s423 so I could reflash a P4T to accept a 2.0Ghz chip... bleh!
