Has anyone been to this? I worked on it over the weekend, it was my first visit.

I've worked on various motorsports events for about 14 years now and honestly, I can say that without exception, this is the only motorsports event I've ever attended that I'd actually consider shelling out money for, and being a spectator at.

It was fucking awesome. Loads of classic F1 cars, new F1 cars, supercars of all kinds (including a Bristol Fighter, first time I've seen one), classic Edwardian cars, beautiful Ferraris, Alfas, you name it it was there. Chris Evans even had about 7 white Ferraris there, driving in convoy up the hill. Ken Block playing around in a Focus. Nick Mason in an old Auto Union. Jackie Stewart in an old Lotus F1 car, and the JPS 1970s/80s classic F1 cars. Brilliant.

If watching cars fly up the hill isn't enough, there's a rally stage, an off-road course to watch, the Red Arrows, a Vulcan bomber flying overhead, music, the lot.

I've never really got that enthused by most of the things I work on, but this is different. There's a "Goodwood Revival" on in August I think, if you can, get your family there.

The Festival of Speed and the Revival are very different. I've not been to the Festival though I would love to, I've only been to the Revival once but it really was a fantastic weekend.

Most people have seen them before but here are some of the shots I took there.

Well if he went walking around, he may have spotted me on a small scaffold roughly half way up the hill, operating a camera :) Just past the wall.

I try and go each year to the Festival of Speed. Absolutely amazing experience every year and there is no where else where you can get so close to the action and walk around the paddocks for such a good price!

This year I didn't venture up the hill but I know where you where, just after the pedestrian bridge there is a short straight which leads to a brow and a left turn going up the hill before hitting the trees. That is where I normally am!

Am so glad you liked it Tom, maybe next year we will meet up but I only ever go on the Sunday.

Great event every year, I'd agree - I'll try to go myself sometime :)

I recorded it on Sky Sports 2 HD as well, nearly finished watching it. Was a great day out for £50. 10 hours of fun. Awesome :)

Already decided I am going next year, working out who else wants to go so if you want to put your name down let me know J.....

Let's try to put something together then - Ford Galaxy carries a decent crowd, one other like that and we'll have a good team together :)

Didn't get to go this year, but went last year, and it's a great day out with stuff the whole family can do. Last year my daughter was 3 so we got her some ear defenders, and she had a whale of a time as there was plenty of kid friendly activities for free, away from the noise of the cars.

Tip: every year around May, the times website has an offer for free tickets for the Friday, which is what we used last year. You might not see all the cars in action on Friday, but it's generally a bit quieter and you can spend more time getting close to the cars in the paddock or having a really good look round with less people about.

Funnily enough I had a feeling you might be around. I did have a vague look for you but there were so many people on those platforms and they've all got their backs to you it was hard to tell. I think the one you were on had about 7 or so?
