There's also a great site with people opinions of different online retailers of comp parts but can't remember the url, I used Ebuyer and Komplett and had no probs with either. Dabs on the other hand is a different story
One bit of advice I wish I'd had is to research all parts before you buy them, some clashes of different hardware can cause problems, and if I'd known I'd never have bought a mobo with a VIA chipset along with an Nvidia gfx card (works fine with Radeon though).
Quick search of the brand/part name on a search engine should reveal any possible problems
Another tip I was given is to run the 3dfx benchmark in loop mode for 24(!!) hours after you have installed OS but before doing anything else to test the stability of the comp. Have to admit I left it running for 12 hours then got bored, but can be worth it to avoid any huge probs later
