Right, I'm off to Barcelona in a couple of weeks. Any good places to eat out at night?

I'll be working at the Circuit de Catalunya, which is a few miles North of Barca. The hotel is likely to be somewhere inbetween those two, but it will be a hire car so we don't care about distance :)

Just go to La Rambla - loads of nice restaurants there. Alternatively, there's some good 'posh' seafood restaurants on the front near the Hotel Arts, or you could eat in the Arts itself if its on expenses ;)

Better still, stay there, at least for a couple of nights... The rooms are fantastic :) totally automated with lots of b&o spangly bits - has to be the second best place I've stayed only really losing to The Bellagio.

Hotel Arts linky. Sadly the sculpture outside isn't nearly as impressive from up close @ the hotel. It's just eye candy for people flying in tbh :(

Unfortunately I don't get to choose which hotel I stay in. Although I shall petition the lads to go there one night. I'm fucking sick of the same old tapas bar we usually frequent.

tbh I find that whoppers of all variations tend to get soggy about 3/4s of the way through them. I'd prefer two, or even three smaller burgers to a whopper purely as a non-soggy sollution.

how many tomato slices do you get in a brit whopper? two tends to soggy things up. mcD is too little, BK is too much imo. I had Wendys in New Zealand which was about right tbh, but they've not yet heard of them here :/

I can. They tasted like shit.

Teeds, dunno really. I think they put two in but one's normally fallen out by the time i've lifted it from the box to my mouth.

All burgers are pure evil. They are good only for long distance motorway journies, and killing seagulls.

Lies. Burgers are the cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast, lunch or dinner.

I don't get it, how can you have a record for the most expensive burger. I could whip up one in my kitchen and offer it for sale for £15,000.

because..

website article said:
it's officially the most expensive commercially available burger in the world.

I guess by that they mean it's not a one off and people have actually paid that price for it? Rather than someone sticking an obscene price tag on a burger and no-one going near it.
Still it is a rather stupid record to have.

I'm sure you could fake that pretty easily.

Unless the price of the raw materials amounts to above a certain amount or something - truffles are expensive. Still, I'm sure you could find a way to steal the record.

Truffles - "black truffles, which were selling for $875 a pound this season."

Because of the kind of beef used - Kobe - its japanese beer fed cows, massaged every day to improve tenderness

Kobe beef "often $300 a pound or more for the real thing from Japan."

I wonder what lunatic would get a 100$ burger, even if it friggin is kobe beef with black truffles. be still my beating heart

last year I treated teh gf and myself to a classy chateau with a pretty good eatery attached. one of our meals was woodland pigeon stuffed with truffles, wrapped in wild spinach and turned into a pastry. they gave us a pinot noir with that (to which I happen to be quite partial). now that is yummy. not a damn hamburger.
