Vanish is actually pretty good I've found. I use the powder that you put in the washer drawer.

Agreed, or try the liquid one you can pour a drop on the stain before you put it in the wash if it is a stubborn one. :)

LOL at the responses in this thread !

Baking soda is an excellent stain remover. Not too abbrasive, and won't remove the colour like bleach.

Thats why you can get baking soda toothpaste (Arm & Hammer). Its really good actually.

I wouldn't like to buy any of Teh Seal's toothepaste. Pisspaste. Leaves a nasty taste in the mouth

Vanish didn't work with the greasy/spicy sauce type stains.

i heard if you pour wine everywhere you either make more stains or it removes current stains.

if you chose to do this of course, its upto you
