Good place to fight

I'm currently a Level 7 Hunter in Auditlen but finding it very hard to get EXP. Anyone know a good place to hunt ? All I seem to be able to kill is monsters 2 levels below me which means it would take about 6 hours to get a level. When I team up I don't seem to do much better after the EXP has been split and taking into account the greater risk of death due to fighting harder monsters. What can I do ? :/

From 5-20 if your solo kill or "Fedex" (giving an item to an NPC) tasks are good for exp/money. Get kill tasks from guards and Fedex from any other NPC, select and /whisper task at em a task...and off you go!

I find two good places to fight are just outside Mularn and Just outside Vasudheim. There's lots of bears and spiders around, the odd worm, some queen ants and stuff. Also the odd hill cat wanders down from the mountains. Reasonably near a guard tower too so you can sprint there is you get into trouble.

If you're going on around 5:30 then I'll tell you where to go.

From Audliten, you head NW (over the bridge oposite the fort and turn right). Follow that road and keep to the right when it splits. That's Vasudheim. Now, you should find some decent stuff to fight from that fork, right into town (getting weaker as you get closer).

To get to Mularn from there, head in through Jorheim (that massive fort over the bridge). In jordheim go to your left and find the next set of "Snake Doors" and go through. Now you're in Mularn. Head West along the road out of Mularn and over that bump (there may be some ghosts and stuff there, some are tough). Over that bump you start seeing Hobgobs and ants and Hildu Lurkers. Head further in and you'll find some orange/red and purple ants. Even further out you'll find those white worm thingies and hill cats. Even the odd Hill person or Dirge.

HTH.

The ghoul hair belt? There're some wayward ghouls north of Auditlen at night. Over the bridge, in the mountains behind the guard tower.

Level 7 - best hunting areas by far are ants, crabs, and tomtes. The E Svealand triangle plays host to all three.

It will depend on what type of hunter you are. Presuming you've gone bow/beastcraft/spear (if you haven't delete your character and start again), you're best of getting into a 2 or 3 man group - you could charm an animal and use it as a tank but you're much better off finding a thane or two (at level 7 you cant even wear studded, so you really dont want to take aggro, a thane will do enough damage to stop that happening when you shoot the mob).

Go after orange/red con mobs - any self-respecting thane should be able to take yellows easily, and oranges 50% of the time, so oranges with 1 or reds with 2 should be nice quick levelling with little risk/downtime.

Get yourself a Brendig's Kneebiter - nice little spear, about level 8 iirc, with +skill bonuses. It's a fairly common drop in Nisse's.

And when you hit level 10, become a fletcher and start making your own arrows - it very quickly pays off.

I didn't understand that bit :/

I have some sword skill (only 4 or 5) but I started working on spear instead. Just don't have a spear yet. Arrows cost me all my money :)

I found the quickest way to level is to go into Nisses dungeon (ne of ft atla) with some slightly higher level players and a healer.
This way you get lots of XP from hitting high level monsters and they drop more valuable items, including some useful magic items, weapons, armour, cash

For arrows you can get free ones from the Hunter trainer in Jord (and probably othe hunter trainers as well), I didnt buy arrows until I was at level 10.

Doing tasks for npc 's is also a nice way to earn bit of cash and XP, and some of them simply involve delivering items to people and so are very low risk.

Also make sure you get the highest level pet you can, you should be able to get some sort of ant i think at level 7 which should let you kill yellows.

Leech xp

Pets leech XP ... only use em if soloing

Hunters get best results from spear (Brittle Bone Trident from Nissies is a good 'un). Sword damage is capped until u get to RvR levels.

Good Hunting

Ultimate lvl 10- tip!!!:
Ask me for one gold, go buy some yellow stuff, kill some blues and yellows, depending on your class.

(this reply was serious)

Another good tip is to consider changing class. Sure, that sounds harsh but Hunters are one of the hardest Midgard classes to level.

It might be preferable for you to get a class with high group ability. That way, you can do kill-tasks in Aegirhamn until you hit level 20. Then you should be able to find groups in the Vendo caves.

Once you have reached higher levels you have a better knowledge of the game and Midgard, and thus it might be easier for you to level a hunter.

Anyways... good luck! :)

20 months? Hahah, didn't notice. Well... advice is still valid for anyone starting out and doing that on a hunter! :)

Err yeh. Was quite a while ago :)

Anyway, I ditched the Hunter (well parked) at level 37 after about 5 months :D Skalds are group friendly I thought. Got him to 50. Realised he was boring and just crafted occasionally until recently :)
