When I originally looked at this story I tended to believe he was being rather greedy, however my view has changed since then and I say good luck to him. We could say that we should protect morons from themselves and stop people exploiting such people with overpriced items on ebay but why bother. The gentleman in question has done a follow up to how he got hold of the GFFX 5900:

Aww, bless :) On a similar note, did you know that Microsoft UK give £1 to charity (the NSPCC, I believe) every time a worker leaves early in the UK headoffices? I don't have the article to hand, but the reasoning is essentially as follows. By leaving early, the employee gets to do what he or she wants, be it meet with their friends, pick up the kids etc, which makes them feel good and happy. The money going to chairty only exemplifies this. In turn, Microsoft get a lot of happy, and thus productive, employees.

You may hate Microsoft, and perhaps your beliefs have some merit, but they're far from the pure evil they're often made out to be :)

Kind Regards

Okay, perhaps that wasn't 'on a similar note', but I do recall something that is. When the GeForceFX was first announced, nVidia placed several exclusive boards up for auction weeks before the retail launch, giving the thousands of dollars profit to vary good causes scattered across the globe. Good card or bad card, at least some benefit came from it :) Ahhh, all is well with the world today :p

Kind Regards

Aye Jonty, I read that Microsoft are rated as one of the best companies to work for. I think you get free access to their gym, lunch is all free, something like 90% of the employees get their own office and +25k/a or was it 30?

Cannae remember. Sounds like a cool place to work though.

So so wrong I'm afraid. Since the late eighties, MS has nearly exclusively hired temps, leaving a two-tiered workforce. One the one hand, the long-term employees, earning an average of $220,000 a year (figure does not include the top five earners), and on the other hand, around 6000 temps, doing the same jobs without any of the benefits.

The above all relates to the US employees, but I'm very confident that the same applies to UK staff. It may not be the worst job in the world, but they aren't the nicest company either.

Well, friends of friends who work at MS reading(I think it was reading anyway) say it's fantastic.

Either way, there's no way it's worse than where I am atm :|

I used to work in the CallCentre they had in Glasgow and had the pleasure of going down to Reading once in a while.

The place IS totally cool... they have a large pond at the front of the building with external network points for your laptop so you can work outside!!! That is cool...

They always treated us alright, we used to get free software and hardware from them and stuff like that... then the bastich's closed us down and moved the call centre to Ireland :(
