Hmm, wanting to get rid of BT, does anyone know of any decent 24/7 UK ISP's of about £10-15 operating on a BT line?

I'm bloody sick of BT, having been moved onto their 'special service' for high-end users.. Service made crap on purpose to attempt to convince people to move onto broadband (See the BBC's watchdog website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog ).

Well, if anyone knows of a decent ISP please reply, currently looking into f2s (www.f2s.com) and I can't get blueyonder as not in a telewest area..

Thanks

Note: For a 56k, and I don't want lame comments such as: "OMG, G3T @DSL or CABLRE YUO CHEEP GIT FFS!!!!", I'm afraid I'm not in that finiancial league.

NTL do a cheap 64k version of the cable modem. May be worth looking at, as these still give u great pings.

Slight problem, I mentioned that it had to be on a BT line - My dad has gone and handed his BT email out everywhere, so the BT "service" is moving over to pay-per-min. So, we're stuck with the BT line I'm afraid.

Thanks though :D

So?

You CAN have to lines by 2 different phone companies in your house at the one time.

Thats what my mate has. His mum wanted to keep her BT number so she uses that line and doesnt use the NTL one.

Yeah, the BT line is the second line. We do have an NTL line as the main telephone line..

Err, just had a conversation with my dad and he said he *might* change the roles of the two lines.

*Visits the NTL website*

Hmm? Well, the dialup service has been stopped, and the cable isn't yet avalible in my area :(

Following a successful technical trial of broadband internet access through the digital set top box, in your area, we have now moved into the final stage before commercial launch with a customer trial (in the same area). We have invited a small number of existing digital customers who have already signed up on the broadband waiting list to join this final stage. Their feedback is vital to ensure the commercial service is of the highest standard. We are also testing a variety of product concepts during this time. Subject to the success of this final stage we'll be in a position soon to announce the commercial launch date. As soon as this is confirmed, this site will be updated with full details about and how to order ntl broadband.

Keep your BT line and switch to BT's SurfTogether package. You can choose unmetered evening/weekend or full 24/7. I use LineOne (now owned by Tiscali) as the ISP and would recommend them to anyone. Good pings (for a 56K) and very reliable service.

In total, I pay about £16 per month for the evening/weekend package.

You pay a bit more, but its well worth it

I'm on Demon, but I don't seem to get any better than Genie or UKonline who are both free. Then again my area has less communication lines than the antartic.

I had no problems when I used Demon. I'd recommend them.

hmm, Quite a lot of you think demons great.. I'll probably change to them. (Or even Lineone), however people on (PA) IRC seem to think differently about demon..

Seems ok though :)

Thanks very much all :)
