Ordinarily I'd write a massive thing about what you need to do but for some reason apathy has a hold of me tonight. www.xbox-scene.com is good for what ailes ya.

If you want answers to specific questions though (excluding dip switch/bigger hdd questions) you can get me on quakenet. I'm on (eerily enough) as nath.

thats for choosing all the bios banks and stuff

i dont change mine

1 & 2 are on
3 - 5 are off

X3 is brilliant for doing new stuff coz of its built in ftp. All you gotta do is back up your xbox HD to your pc via the ftp then open the xbox up, take out the hd, pop the new one in and then format it in the bios

I think you have to unlock the HD before you remove it and then once the new one is in you lock it again.

once done just copy your backup over to the xbox again

ok i finaly got round to getting the latest version of xmbc.

now slight problem ftping over to xbox, when ever i have xbox on and network cable attached my pc loses all conection to me router (netgear RP614) i have the latest firmware installed, and its been the case since i first got XBL when ever i played games on live pc would disconnect its never been a problem before as i wouldnt be using me pc at the time. onyl way for me to get the connection back is when i switch off the xbox and and unplug and re-plug the routers psu cord.

IP conflict? Is your xbox set to the same IP as your router?

Depends what dash you're using - you need to point the dash to the xbmc directory, then it should pick it up and you can run it.

You don't, you point evox at it. There should be a config file somewhere (evox.ini in the root of c:\ if memory serves), which you can edit to tell it where your programs (such as xbmc) are installed.

xbmc.xml should be in the same place as the xbmc exe, otherwise it won't get used.
Check temps in xbmc to see if that also suggests 109C.

got it werking fine now thx guys for the help.

compared to xbmp , xbmc pic quality is much better . think its time to buy a remote for it now.

having said that i found that slayers installed a megadrive emu too so i spent the best part of the early hours today playing shadowrun.
