Golden Scarab Vest

I saw this cursed scarab vest on the ground in the mau camp and not knowing everything about artifacts I didn't know how the quest was suppose to be done. I picked the vest up and logged as I was quiting for dinner. I now got the cursed scarab vest in my inventory and when I read the quest notes I noticed that you are not able to pick it up unless you had gathered 50 scarab wings and got the glove.

So I wonder... When you pick the vest up with the glove is it still cursed or is that suppose to go away? If it is, I might aswell throw it back on the ground. If not I got a free artifact maybe?

If you havent gathered the 50 scarab wings and turned them in for the gloves, when you pick up the cursed scarab vest, it drops straight back onto the floor, so i don't know what happened there.
