[18-01-2005] Lag issues
Since this week end, new lag issues have appeared, and we understand that they are frustrating for the players who suffer from this lag. There can be several seconds without response of the game and even some disconnections, sometimes simultaneous for some players connected in the same geographical areas. With version 1.71 the performances of the game have been enhanced, and that enabled us to better define former issues. We have been able to identify the origin of the most recent issues that appear randomly on any zone of the game and are cyclic.

Network issues are responsible of this kind of lag, including some on our platform. Those are being solved, and maintenance operations are planned on a very short term and could lead to disconnections when they will be run.

We are continuing our investigations in order to fix the all the problems as soon as possible.

funny how they always promise us that the new patch would solve most lag problems while it's always the opposite >.<

no, they said it'd solve the ToA lag problems - which is true. The 20s server lag on everything in ToA is gone.

replaced with 20s lag everywhere else :m00:

still, managed to do some farming in toa to make new template so from PvE pov its better.

1.70 (with exception for open transit) wasnt so bad in RvR. Kinda feels like they did cut´n´paste lag from toa to the other zones, spreading the love a bit

Tbh, I prefer 1 LD every 2 hours instead of having a constant 10-20 secs delay in all TOA-zones.

As it seems, one have to choose between the lesser of two evils. :)

i think i read something about a nice patch addition for the future...

upon logging in... knowing where you want to play...
we'll get a pop-up box asking :

" Welcome to DAOC. Which zone do you wish to lag into? "

or even....

" Welcome to DAOC. Where will you not be going tonight? So we can narrow that bandwith to exploit profit margins"

even a questionaire upon logging in:

Where Do we make you lagg?
Toa :
RVR :
Shrouded Isles :
Classical :

No, they said they'd fix the lag problems especially the ones in ToA

NEW THINGS AND BUG FIXES

- We have made some changes that will decrease the chance of network latency occurring in all areas of the game, especially in the ToA zones.

Before there was relatively little lag in rvr, and after patch it was chaotic. It is true that ToA had more lag than the rest of the game, but there was a lot of lag outside ToA. Since the patch the lag seemed to be everywhere and was getting increasingly worse.

The problem of lag has been on excalibur for far too long without an explanation as to why we had to tolerate it and let's just hope they fix it properly some time in the next year.

Patch 1.37

Version 1.37 Remember that this patch note was the one Mythic published when they updated their servers. Some information like the ones concerning the Camelot Herald and US Servers. =============================================

Dark Age of Camelot Version 1.37 Release Notes

=============================================

REALM VS. REALM FIXES AND ADDITIONS ===================================

Starting with this version, when you gain a Realm Rank, you will gain a 1 point bonus to each of your specializations per Rank. This begins at realm rank 2. So, a player of Realm Rank 5 would have a total of +4 (i.e. one per realm rank after the first) to all his skills. A maxed-out RvR player would have a +10 to all skills (at realm rank 11). Please note that this acts just as if that player has a magic object that "buffs" skills - i.e. you will not get abilities awarded to you because of the bonuses, but for combat and other calculations, the buff will be included in the formula. Currently, this bonus does not display on your character sheet.

In the (near) future, we plan on having a slightly more robust Realm Rank gifts, where you gain cash rewards for RvR combat, and at some point after that, additional skills and abilities. We'll give you all more information about that when the time comes.

near future for mythic/goa means in the next 3-4 years.
