This subject may have been covered in previous posts.

If it has then apologies - Im not scanning through thousands of posts for it.

Considering the number of posts in the past slamming Newbies / 1337s / campers and so on, I need your input to this one.

Ive played Cs for the best part of the last 4 months.

At the start I kinda enjoyed CERTAIN servers. You know the ones ? - where you get a good bit of banter going between people (usually when you are DEAD - alot - like me)

Some servers I have been on fall into 3 other categories .

1. Silence.
2. Everyone boasting how good they are and how crap someone else is
3. Everyone slamming everyone else for being "crap" - as per their definition.

Now - I'm not claiming to be the best at CS, some nights I can go 24 - 5 on a map, other nights its a complete reversal - i play for FUNNNN

What some of the "1337" (or self claimed 1337) players forget VERY quickly is that EVERYONE was crap at 1 point or another. If you pick up a game for the first time - you are NEVER going to be any good - thats life

What I recognise is an increasing number of self claimed "1337" players slowly choking the life out of the game.

Newbies arent being encouraged - their being slammed for "not playing the game properly" though there are many ways to play each map - no communication through the game is assisting them with tactics or basic gameplay functions.

Whats your verdict ?

I think people get annoyed with newbie's having played a week and thinking they know it all hitting the elite server's and messing up the game, I know this annoy's me in TFC especially when you get people thinking TFC was created for DM or sniper wars, yes its a free world but there are server's for these people highlighted as newbie server's .

When I play CS (which I am posibbly one of the worst players in the world at ) I stick to the newbie server's (and still get my ass kicked :( )

They stay on the newbie server's and I personally have no problems with them, I'm all for helping them get going infact I've poped in a few times to help the odd CS player with TFC who happened to help me with CS

I think you might get arseholes and newbie's mixed up some times, some players have been going for years but still don't get it :(

I have been playing for 4 months too :D , and... I must agree! There are a lot of new players who just started and think they're all that... But that'll probably always be around.

About "n00bs" messin' up the game, I don't think that's SO bad...
Remember, once we messed the other's game up by blocking, flashing teammates, etc. And n00b-servs... I think they should be able to play where ever they want...

And we SHOULD - like Lazarus sais - help them and learn them simple tactics and the basics

I think people who post long posts, should post a <50 word summation at the top of the post, so that those of us who are supposed to be working/too lazy dont have to read it all :)

But anyway it's normally best if you play on admined servers, like public clan servers, that way any fools can be kicked before they piss people of, plus you tend to see the same people over and oveer which makes it a bit more cumminity ish.

also, so called l337 players jump on the newbie servers, why? well is it because they think they're l337 that they can kill loads of newbies, i have never considered myself l337 or a newbie i just wanna play the game. if you allow yourself to care you will end up moaning about players and clans like everyone on here seems to be doing. moon chastises me for being someone that is not as good as his l337 arse, well moon, i don't really care if your better than me, i'm better than newbies so why should i care if anyone is better than me. i've only played TFC for a year and a half properly and i'm learning new skills all the time, so i am getting better and better, i just have to get rid of lag now. ADSL soon, yay...

Well unlucky for some more and more skilled players are apearing and the newbie population is decreasing, BW is now acomidating for more skilled players, it seem's tho some don't like the opinion of what you reffer to as 1337, but I've heard no one her call themself that

And I don't chastise any one I just express my views on someone obvioulsy out for attension and not giving a hoot about the subject under discusion .

Sure have all the newbie's you wan't they don't bother me just don't take us all for the fool's

I wish that were true.

fact is TFC played far better 2 years ago than it does now. Just ask anyone around at the time:) People wern't loaded with scripts, there were virtualy no cheats around, there was very little bitching on servers, nearly everything was bliss:)

These days the game is loaded with backtracking players just looking for a score, people who can't snipe or just don't bother to snipe in a place that would be effective for the team, bitching kids, lame team swapers because they don't like to die, people crying over who's flag it was to cap ect ect....


Shame we can't roll back the clock me thinks, im sure there are many CS players that think the same. CS was a joy to play once, i know because i hammerd the servers everynight along with many others that now don't bother:(


Btw there was only one 'SOD' a couple of years ago, mr silly the:)

I don't use any scripts, nor do any of my clan members, we disagree with bunny hoping and encourage people not to whilst using our server

I think this makes fora good quality game .

The fact I know is the bwtfcl league is getting bigger this proves more players are looking for better games through clans

Ive been playin for about 4 months (strange that) but I still consider myself as a bit of a "newbie" due to not actually playing that often.

Im amazed at the amount of abuse that gets flung around during the GAME, I know a lot of people take it seriously, but it is JUST A GAME, Christ, there isnt even a prize for winning, so whats the big deal.

Maybe its coz Im an old git, but if ppl start flaming like mad in the game, I just move to another server and try again, theres plenty of them out there. I know that everybody has their favorites, but why put up with all the shit when you can just connect to another and another and another..........

Dont know if this is of any interest, but just thaught Id add it anyway.:p

Dont flame newbies its not nice UNLESS ( :p ) they are really really stupid.

Its not hard to configure your controls before u start playing (CS in this case, although i am sure the same applies for most HL mods) online, is it that hard to read the readme or manual? I dont expect new players to be the dogs bollox or even know the map, I do expect everyone to know what the use button is for and how to plant and defuse though.

I cant stand insulting a player simply cause they are worse than anyone else, whoever if they are obivoulsy new and accuse everyone of cheating then they deserve some come back.

New players should take note, too many of u jump on bandwagons u shout cheat at everylittle thing and this really annoys the older players. Examples include, being called a cheat for; low pings; grenade spam; bunny hopping (when u are actually just crouch jumping). Okay so the first time they say a stupid thing u can let it go, but some players dont learn they dont except your answer and continue acting like a newbie.

Yeh I think to many people get the word newbie and prick mixed up, maybe some think other's are having a go because thier new but mostly from what I've seen here thats not the case, its dumb arsed remarks or questions that pis people off

Oh yeh and these people who think there 1337 and spurt out all this 0wnz j00 crap are usually new to the game but think they know it all, these are the ones I dislike

I've been playing TFC since it first come about but I still have a lot to learn, I do make sure I play to the upmost standard to improve the game quality I can .

As for me in CS well I might have had some trouble with disarming the bomb first time around myself but I chose a newbie server and before that I actually got used to controls and things in LAN by myself, its not hard and I avoided making myself look like a tit , why can't others do this

Maybe 1 problem we have is those beginners thinking they know it all and hitting the elite server's only to find they get their asses kicked and then start blabbing all the cheat acusations and bitching, Well he's gonna get some serious abuse for even being there and your gonna see alot of what's been happening on these boards

I gotta say I don't get involved in all the 'stupid n00b, 1 0wn5 j00' crap, but what you said about new players claiming peeps are cheating is true. I don't think they realise at first that just because you have finished every first person shooter and played halflife on hard, doesn't mean you will come top online. The jump in standard between an AI (even a well-coded AI) and a real player is large. After a couple of months they stop all of that.

As for all the l33tness people, they're just assholes. Don't let them get to you. Teach them a lesson in a language they understand. Shoot them in the head.
