Installed Quake, installed GLQuake 0.97, installed QW 2.30.

System:
WinXp
1.2 TBird
Geforce DDR with latest Nvidia drivers for XP.

Problem:
Created shortcut with command line

c:\quake\glquake.exe -width xxxx -height -xxxx -bpp 16 -heapsize 128000

Whatever i put for the width/height, wether its 800x600 or 1280x1024 it ignores teh command line and runs it in 640x480.

In video options it states whatever the commandline resolution is set too but it clearly is always 640x480.

Also the gamma is way way dark, i even created a config that contained nothing but the line gamma 1.5 ..but it ignores that too when i add teh line +exec xxx.cfg to the end of teh commandline.

Use to play this loads but have lost all my autoexecs and configs and cant remember jack shit...

Any ideas? solutions

oh and i have re-installed and removed opengl32.dll )

gah, someone told me this not long ago...
try #planetfortress on gamesnet irc, youll find alot of veteran TF playerrs there, who know a bit about qw.

i cant remember what i used, but it worked with glquake, allthough i couldn't get QW to run without disabling the sound, using software mode, and all the lowest view options :/

gamma is a software only command, it wont work in GL. I recommend to use powerstrip or qizmo to make GL Quake brighter.
You use the -width and -height commands correctly (if you use -width 800 and not 0800 as your 4 xes might express), if it doesnt work, who cares? GLquake just looks more blurry in higher resolutions anyway

most likely you are just getting fooled by the fact that the console is 640x480 maximum by default (to stop the text getting too small).

try adding "-conwidth 800 -conheight 600" to your commandline and see if that looks any different, i.e.

c:\quake\glquake.exe -width 800 -height -600 -bpp 16 -heapsize 128000 -conwidth 800 -conheight 600 -zone 2048 -nocdaudio -nojoy -nocdaudio

i also added the last couple of commands to save you some resources and prevent z_malloc crashes.

there is also a compatiblity update for quake for winXP

Well funny you should mention that. I was battling with it again last night, nehoo i shall outline all my actions so far because this is way way strange.

Ive installed glquake 0.97 on both my XP and w2k boots.

The geforce drivers are as follows.. 21.83 on XP and 12.90 on w2k. XP is using directx8.1 and w2k is using directx8a.

Ive used this command line on both

c:\quake\glquake.exe -width 1024 -height -768 -bpp 16 -heapsize 128000 -conwidth 1024 -conheight 768

Whats happening is that the actual ingame resolution is sticking at 640x480 but the console resolution is changing.

Now i cant figure out why this would be the case. Ive evn pushed -height - width right up to 1280x1024 and still no change.

Ive changed my desktop res and color depth to reflect what i set in the commandline just in case and still no joy.

tbh i am really stuck, i was wanting to play both glquake and glqw @ atleast 1024.

I cant think of any reason for this to happen as the console is being rendered via opengl yet will excpet a res change..
