Ofc it's 'stolen' from WoW, MMORPG's steal ideas from each other all the time. I'll bet if you look at WoW you'll find plenty of idea's which have been stolen from other MMO's - thats how games improve afterall :D

Pfft. WoW is a total ripoff. I mean, they stole the whole sword thing from DAoC! And spells too! Man, they even stole a few CLASSES.

And trees, they stole our trees, too! And omg, WoW stole the day/night cycle system from DAoC! How lame!

</sarcasm>

Why dont you just keep playing on the US servers then if you like it that much? :p

On merlin there were about as much people as on Excalibur peak times around 8PM GMT. There are about 2000 people online when it's peak time in Europe, and when it's peak time in US there are around 3300 people there...

It has a glowy circle under it, signifying that it has a quest for you. First appeared in WoW, and now mythic are copying it.

Actually, doesn't WoW show a ! or a ? (depending on the quest state) above the heads of an NPC?

Yeah WoW shows a ! or a ?
Just because they are showing some way for you to know that it has a quest for you, doesn't mean it's ripping off WoW.

WoW are ripping off CoH then which has indicators on a map plus visual indicators for quests ;)

it's hardly a brand spanking new idea. However it's quite a good one so I'm glad they're implementing it.

Well I have encountered npc's marked with ! in some games, Diablo II for example but thats Blizzard too. Think there was something similar in Nwn aswell.

So it isnt a new thing for games in general maybe for a mmorpg though

What's the big deal anyway? Mythic sees a good thing and incorporated it into DAOC. Everyone wins.

Slightly inane there, Draylor, everyone knows that (a) everyone rips off everyone else in the MMORPG industry, and (b) WoW is certainly one of the best at ripping good ideas from other games (including DAoC) and, incidentially, improving on them. ;)

Another WoW fanboy

The fact is, Blizzard has built WoW around ideas from all sorts of MMORPGS. In fact, i dont think there is ANY original ideas in WoW, aside from the Warcraft theme, which obviously is its own.

So dont whine that Mythic are stealing ideas, when the whole of WoW could be classed as stolen ideas.

Yeah, cuz it's just HARD! - nearly impossible!! to make a circle around a NPC when its targetted! I bet Mythic paid Blizzard to make it for them.

Ride on the shiny, golden waves of irony.

Nothing wrong with mmorpgs using concepts inspired by other games/companies. But sometimes they try to make it look like its a brand spanking new concept that first appeared in their game, and then its wrong. Credit where credit is due etc :)
