the last few days i've been getting really weird GFX errors, and it's only getting worse.

Anyone know what it is?

I've got a fairly good comp, P¤ 2,8 GHz, radeon 9700, 1 GB ram which i've had for a while, but never seen anything like this before.

At first i thought the card was running hot, so i took it out, and sure, it was a bit dusty so i used compressed air to blow away the dirt. This didn't help at all unfortunately :p

I'd be thankful if anyone could help out, or at least help me understand what the problem might be.

Tried reinstalling GFX drivers too ofc but that didn't do anything either.

No i haven't overclocked it, but i think it's fried anyway, yeah... About time to get a new card anyway :p Geforce 7800 ftw meights!!1!

Seriously, i'm gonna buy a new card tomorrow, i'm convinced it's hardware-related so i don't have much choice :)

if it isnt that then its def video card divers, not much else can cause visual artifacts like that.

95+% of visual artifacts are caused by video card drivers...

bit of a waste of money buying a 7800 isnt it, considering there all pci-e and your bored would be a agp one.

Check the power inputs to your card and the AGP voltage in your bios settings (should be about 1.7v for a 9700 not the common mobo default of 1.5v). Lack of power can cause graphics cards to play up alot. Also are you using the latest ATI drivers? Personally I would switch to the omega drivers before scuttling the card. If neither of these work it is like your graphics card has a fault.

Had very similar corruption with a faulty ram stick - try taking one out at a time & see if it clears up?

Worth a go to be sure.

you got an onboard graphics card running aswell by any chance??
my m8 had a similar problem and found one to be conflicting the other
it would run perfectly fine on the net etc until he ran a game then tried browsing the web at which point the graphics went all over his screen
running games was ok aslong as u rebooted the system
running 2 games 1 after the other in the 2nd game the graphics looked horrid
getting 2-3 images of the characters and scenary
