Gfx Cards

Currently my m8s pc has a Tacheon Radeon 9700 128mb 8x AGP card, but he wants to upgrade for NF as his pc lags in resonable sized battles.
No PCI express, only 8x AGP so wondering what you guys are opting for.
Budget is about £200

I was thinking a Radeon 9800 but this is geting on a bit so would like to know which ones you guys recommend (particularly the technical peeps)


At the moment i have my eye on this one:
Asus ATI Radeon AX800PRO
And unlocking the additional pipelines to get that lil bi tmore umphf

Hmm are u sure it's graphic card what u want to upgrade?I got radeon 9600 atm will get 9800 in 1 week but the point is i don't lagg during huge battles, if then maybe just a little bit..So think twice before buying new card

hes got a Athlon XP at 2Ghz, 1.5Gb 333Mhz DDR Ram, and 120Gb Seagate HDD which is far above the spec required for daoc.
Edit: He plays in toa, doesnt lag usually just when there are fights near keeps and such

Best cards in the £200 are geforce 6800 NU like above, if you going £270+ then a 6800GT or radeon x800 pro, both are good and can be overclocked to their higher versions quite easily.

I have had horrid lag in NF at keeps on this current pc(p4 2.66ghz, 1024 2100 spd ram, 6800GT) and the weird thing is i play games like half life 2 at 1280 res with high settings fine, if it happens on my new pc that i get this week, then it has to be the servers.

thats what the strange thing is, he can play hl2 with no lag at all at high res with all the details at max. But on daoc soon as u near a keep lag begins enough to lose stick

Yep, i reckon it's servers, majority are getting this lag i think.
