GFX card question

Ok, im looking into getting an FX5600 soon (Hate ATI) and most of the cards ive seen are 8x and my mobo only supports 4x, Im a bit paranoid so i wont be changing my mobo.

Ive asked about and ive been told an 8x card will work on a 4x bus but ive never been able to get a straight answer as to what effects it will have on the performance of the card, can anyone give me an explanation as to what effect it has?

Personally I'd recommend you looked at the 5700 Ultra, tis a truck load quicker - as to compatibility, yes an 8x card will run on a 4x interface fine.

As to a performance hit, you won't see any noticeable difference, althouth the step down from 8x to 4x halves the available bandwidth on the interface you'd need a really hardcore PC and the likes of Half Life 2 cranked to it's limits before it had any obvious effect.

Ive had really bad experiances with ATI cards in the past, one being VERY bad performances in some games i used to play, switched to Nvidia and never looked back since.
