Gforce2 mx 400 - help

help,

i have just installed the latest detonator drivers 21.83,

they are really good, the colours, fps on Counter strike are great,

only thing is, it wont let me change the contrast,brightness & gamma, so cs is a bit dark, i have changed the gamma,brightness settings in CS but its still a bit dark.

anyone help?

is there any better drivers i should be using for the gforce2 mx 400 ?

I take it you have been into desktop settings (right click on desktop, properties, settings tab), click on advanced and there are no tabs for the card? 'Cause on every detonator driver Ive installed there is a color correction tab with gamma adjustment etc displayed there

I had that problem a few months back, but it turned out to be my monitor that wasnt alowing the changes... strange that, but worth checking (if u havnt already)

the tabs are there to change, but they are not highlighted, will not let me change them at all

Same here, the tabs are there but I can't touch them. The 12.83's actually reduced my 3dmark score by 30 so I took them off.

Same question to you, Staz. I remember reading about left-over 3DFX driver files causing the display tabs to be greyed out.

i had exactly the same thing on the last set of drivers.which is a pain because you can set up a nice thing for custom colours / gamma etc.You can set many things via this little icon on your toolbar,splendid stuff.
in the end i went back to the drivers that i had originally ,4.12.01.0532, whatever that is.but it works so i dont mind really
oh btw no i never had a 3dfx card on this pc,it had this mx from new.

I used to have a V3 3000 but when I got me Geforce 2 MX I changed the drivers to the generic display ones and got rid of the old V3 drivers completely. I could use the display tabs before with Geforce drivers, but not since I put the 12.83's on.

I may have an ATi card, but have you heard about the lastest ATi driver 'trick'?
Optimised for Quake3 - runs it in lower quality textures than selected, with out an options to change it.

Handy when it's one of the common benchmarks, eh?

anyway. did you try completely removing the old detonator drivers. there's a 'how to' in the GeForce FAQ.

Quake 3 is one of those games that texture quality doesnt really matter imo. You aint going to stop in the middle of a firefight and go "Ooooh Pretty!"

Yeah, but it's a con to boost the benchmark scores above those of the GF3 Ti 500.

Use either 12.41 or 12.90, the 21 series of drivers are shit

When installing new drivers even going to std vga drivers 1st never gets rid of everything, use a cleaner such as nvcleaner or detonator destroyer:

Detonator 4. 3dmark scores went up for GF2 users but everything else went down. Sound fishy to anyone else?
