GF3-Ti200 128MB or GF4?

The former is now only £120 but a comparative priced GF4 will probably only have 64 MB RAM on it..

These cards have been discussed a lot, but not quite in the same way, so, which do I go for?
Currently I'm tempted by the GF3.

OK, the comparison is this:
Siluro GeForce 4 Ti4200 64MB DDR AGP RP DVI VO - £133.94
Or
Siluro GeForce 3 Ti200 128MB DDR AGP RP DVI VO - £112.79

I would have thought the GF4 again, only a few quid more, altho that Siluro GF3 was the one i was looking at on Dabs i think

I have the Gainworld GF4 4200 on my "Shopping List" for £142

I've ordered myself a GF3 128MB jobbie, although this was largely due to the fact I got a "today only" special from Scan.co.uk and had 20 odd quid knocked off it.

Xav might an prolly will correct me on this but the GF3 dont make much use of the 128mb like the radeon/GF4 does waste a money m8

Scan? Yeah great deals, except that you always have to pay £10 Postage even on the smallest item - which often negates any saving!

You should also consider the ATI Radeon. I can't fault mine, Drivers seem pretty good now, a breeze to install, plays all my games no prob.

Well, the card is at least as fast as my mates (which is fooking fast) but it appears that my CPU isn't up to scratch as I've podded out £110 quid for a new gfx card for a net gain of about 10fps in CS.

LOL :D

So i think i better get the GF4 and Athlon 1.4 in one bundle, to save arsing around

Probably, although the main reason I didn't get the GF4 was because I couldn't afford the extra 30 odd quid and if I didn't get the card when I did, the money would've been swallowed up by something else. Anyway, UT looks bloody amazing now, as does Shogun. Just the CS thing that bothers me, but as someone said, its probably coz my CPU and net connection aren't too hot.

I got my Leadtek GF4 Ti-4200 for about £130 from Ebuyer and (after some initial installation problems) am now very very happy with it.

I am partnering it with an Athlon 900 MHz and the 3DMark2001 SE scores were:

With my GeForce 2 GTS - 3065
With my GeForce 4 4200 - 6127

Best buy I have made for a long time.

I'd never heard of 3DMark2001 SE, so I've just downloaded it, and results were:

Athlon XP 1800+ with Radeon 8500LE

6986

I had a Geforce 2MX 64MB before, but never tried the tests on that. From my perspective, The ATI is brighter and sharper than the GF2, and it was less troublesome to install with regards to drivers.

heh, Ti4200 has LMA-II which means uber-efficient memory useage... 128mb is only reall of use on any card with lots of high-res textures at higher gaming resolutions... as a result the ti4200 with only 64mb can probably do better frame buffer wise than any 128mb geforce 3...

there are plenty of 128mb ti4200's out there too with slightly slower clocked memory(223Mhz), that being said they'll all happily clock up to 250Mhz DDR and get a further 8-10% lead on the GeForce3's

Just to resurrect this thread...

EBuyer have stopped selling the Leadtek card. Any recommendations for other cards to get and/or other places to get the Leadtek?

Overclockers.co.uk sell the:
Gainward GeForce 4 4200 64MB TV (Ultra/650TV) (AGP) - Retail (GX-008-GW)

at a reasonable £125.14. You'll probably have to add on a bit for delivery as well.
