Getting occasional white noise during play

I had this with the demo, downloaded the DirectX update which was supposed to solve it and it didn't. Was hoping it would be fixed in the full verison but i still get it, normally at the start of a new load but occasionally further on during play too. Any ideas?

If its an SB card, get the latest drivers, now

Also run "dxdiag" go to the Sound tab and turn HW Accel all the way to the left, ie off.

I just downloaded the latest soundblaster drivers a couple of days ago. Didn't make any difference. I presume that it's best to turn H/W acceleration bakc on after playing?

I found running the SB Live drivers made my sound even worse, I removed them and went back to the Win2k WDM drivers, all is god here now.

Removing H/W acceleration worked thanks , hope they sort it out in a patch though.
