Could someone give me some advice on how to lower my ping w/out getting an ISDN line

S@xon has a good point there, but there are a few obvious factors to effect ping.
Assuming you are in the UK.
ISP, pants ISP = Pants network = pants ping
Modem Internal/External?? Make and protocol used are all factors. External K56 or V90 modems are usually better
Modem Drivers, unless they are upto date this can really badly effect your ping
Phone lines, if it's crap your retries will be high so your ping and packet loss will rocket.
All the above are factors, without an idea of what you are currently using I can't tell what your problem is.
