Get the Wii?

ok guys i have a xbox 360.. but wud like something new as well.. the new style of play for the nitendo wii looks amazing.. but is it recon getting?

I own a 360 and have pre-ordered the Wii, I just couldn't say no to a Nintendo console plus the new Zelda looks awesome.

After the last 2 consoles i bought from them flopped big time it was pretty easy for me not to click the order button, Zelda looks like Zelda nothing much changed there

If i already had a 360 i would probably wait with a Wii until i had tried it and could formulate a firsthand oppinion. Since i dont own any other console (and havent had any since 1998), think the Wii looks promising, think the price is attractive, and very much would like to play the new Zelda (whom many magazines etc have already named game of the year) I am gonna try to pick one up before christmas. Im also interested in using it to play some older nintendo games on its virtual console.

Wiimote seems a gimmick to me. The hardware is really old, in this day and age it's just not good enough, even for that price.

Owned my 360 since release date - been consistently disappointed with the games, still not found one to keep my interest past the 30 minute 'ooo pretty' stage. (Largely because I am not fond of shooters or sports sims I suppose).

(Two weeks ago I hoped Gears of War would change this now I am pinning my hopes on Viva Pinata).

After a whole year there has not been one single game that has caught mine and my other halves imagination for us to play in 2-player. I hope and expect the Wii to be different. Not as pretty but with many more pick it up and have fun games.

Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking the 360 if you like shooters and sports sims, want to play over Xbox live rather than two on one console, it's great. But the Wii shouldn't be dismissed on the grounds of hardware when it is the gameplay that is important and in that regard 360 titles for me have been sadly lacking

Well it's true, games are what make a console, which is why I'm definitely getting a PS3. So far not impressed with 360 games, and Nintendo have a lot to prove after their last couple of consoles. At least with Sony I know Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo can be relied upon

i a,m debating weather or not i should get wii as well, but atm it wont be for me. altho zelda looks ace. i am looking at it as console for the family. whats holding me back is the games atm as i want it so others can play i am mainly looking at mp
games over one console. sadly not many about i dont think

I'd love the Wii to be a success and i will buy one after a year if it hasn't flopped.

At this moment in time Sonic 1 for their version of the XBLA download has been rated/reviewed better then most of the Wii release titles that in it self for me is reason not to buy one.

Zelda is great but i wish they would do something new loved it up to the N64 version but after that it has gotten stale for me as has Final Fantasy.

I will only get a PS3 for MGS4 but at this rate we might even see it on the 360.

After making the mistake of getting a 360 at launch (don't get me wrong i love the console now) where games were coming out 1-2 a month i will not get another console at launch.

Now is a great time to get a 360 the devs are hitting the zone with it and we are starting to see some great games Viva Pinata/GOW/Lost Planet/Dead Rising are examples of this. For the guy who didn't like Shooters maybe Nintendo will be you're thing i don't love shooters but when there is a good shooter i will get it.

That's cool... if only these great games weren't delayed in Europe for up to 6-9 months

Wii does seem to have a fair few mp on one console title. The Rayman Raving Rabbits title looks promising in this regard. But I'd say that overall a PS2 would have many many more of these titles. If it's for younger kids I'd really recommend the Buzz Jungle Party, the Singstar titles are also great for family fun.

The Wii offers (potentially as ofc I haven't played it yet) a different style of gaming and that is what appeals to me most.

i have a ps2 and all the singstar and eyetoy games, and they are preety damn fun. its just that the kids in the house are getting slightly bored and they dont want to play games which i get for my self and prefer a game that they all can as group.

Yes it looks like Nintendo shafted Europe in favor of the US (as always). Very few machines here for release compared to overseas, and the weekly alotment after release day will also be considerably less. Oh and we pay a higher price as well. GG etc.

We are still taking orders on our initial allocation. Check the webby on woolworths.co.uk. It will say if we will guarentee for the week of release or not.

Edit: Just checked, we have stopped pre-orders now. Allocation is all gone.

Sweden will only get one more shipment before christmas apparantly, and the greedy fuckers in retail are taking full advantage of it, setting fantasy prices - one major retail-chain is gonna charge an unbelievable 600 euro for a machine+zelda pack

That's because people will buy it, i'll get flamed but i plan on buying 3 next friday from Asda and selling them on Ebay, depending on if the thing sucks or not i may keep one for myself.

They only sell for this price because people who have to have it will pay whatever they have too.

Same with GAME and the 360 i remember them doing 360 packs for over £700 and i'm pretty sure MS weren't too happy with them but the point is the packs still sold buy the bucket load because people who have to have the must have christmas present will pay anything. If i can make a few hundred quid for standing in a line for a few hours that suits me.

Going from the US Reviews the Wii Reception has been very postive, though some ppl have said they are getting elbow injuries lol.

Just bought a new TV meself and having some friends over to play the wii when it's released.

Kinda scared that one of them is going to fling the remote at the screen and total it .


Then again, my friends aren't complete asshats who can't keep hold of the controller. :|
