What is he playing at.

I see one of two things going on here, Gerrard has been tapped up and offered stupid money to leave, and his agent stands to make a killing so he is fueling the rift as well. OR, Liverpool want to cash in, they have stalled and created a rift so that to the fans it looks like Gerrard is the one wanting away.

Will be intresting to see what stupid bids come from this, with chelski allready having a £32million bid turned down.

Gerrard's agent is probably after stupid money - and he can probably get it as well at another club...

Remember what happened to Owen when his agent tried the same thing - Raffa/Parry have shown that they won't break the bank for just one player, no matter how good they are (or are perceived to be).

What will be interesting is if Gerrard plays in the first qualifier against TNS...

Personally if I were the boss, I'd play him in the qualifier, then sell him (even if it means less money) just to teach Stevie and his agent a lesson... (probably why I'm not a footy boss!)

This is probably going to be somewhat similar to the Rooney saga.

Rooney turns from "Always a blue" to a Red in a short space of time, now Gerrard is possibly going from "Always a Red" to a Blue (Possibly)

In reality from what i recall, there was much news on Gerrard actually wanting to get the contract sorted months and months ago but Liverpool wasnt interested at all.

I thought it was the other way round Gray - All through the season, Steve was saying "wait and see" to Liverpools requests to sort out a improved/longer contract.

It was only after we won the CL (and secured a route into next season's CL) that Steve has been pressing for contract negotiations.

Besides which, it's now just been announced that he wants to leave (from liverpoolfc.tv):-

"The club has made it crystal clear we want to keep Steven at Anfield. Sadly, he has told us this afternoon that he will not accept our offer of an improved and extended contract because he wants to leave Liverpool. We very much regret the decision he has taken."

I'd still play him against TNS if we haven't sold hime by then!!!

A part of me is just hoping he pisses off now its getting boring this whole will he won't he stay saga, besides so what even if he does sign a new contract he had 3 years remaining last season and he was still on the brink of signing for Chelsea even though Liverpool didn't want to sell him, say he did sign a new 5 year deal whats to stop him leaving anyway at the end of next season if he feels like (contracts means nothing if a player wants to leave these days).

If he does go I hope it's to Real Madrid though would hate for Chelsea to get him
