They think us Brits still see them as goose stepping invaders.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3758982.stm

It's very true,us Brits still live in the 40's when it comes to the Germans, only a few world cups ago, our team was shown in army hats in the papers when we were playing Germany.

Still as a workmate once said, he was listening to 2 German tourists admiring cakes in a shop window, they were no doubt saying
'what lovely cakes, I must buy some for the family',
but to him it sounded like

'take zem to za gas chambers!!!'

It's because we only hear the German language/accent portrayed in war films.

We really have to grow up.

Very true, I got no problem with Germans at all, but it does seem most of England is living in the 1940's.

Given that we're still fighting Agincourt daily with the French, I reckon the Germans should settle in for the long haul.

lol anyone recall that faulty towers sketch with the german guests (faulty towers was hotel sit com) owner is trying desperately not to offend them by mentioning the war, anyway he mentions it gets in to fight and then they argue over who started it goes like this
german: i didnt start it
owner: yes you did
german: NO I DIDNT!!
owner: YES YOU DID YOU INVADED POLAND!!

tbh dont have any problem with germans at all, wars over and done with long time ago, people see us brits as a bunch of twits, french as arrogant etc etc but apart from chavs and pikeys i always say you cant generalise :touch:

Good sportmanship is something that does not come to English football supporters.

Then die! With honour.

I'm English and have no problems with any other nationalities, just individuals.

I guess we let them down in the war, fighting them and that, they were hoping we would see the good points of taking over Europe and join in.

60 years later....I'm starting to see their point.

I`m german, and yet decied to play on an international Server because that´s where all my UK friends were playing. And I wouldn´t like it any other way.
I can´t quite understand why there´s still so much nationalism between all those EU countries, especially UK-GER and GER-FR. It took us all 60 years to get over the state of dissing each other and using nationalistic stereotypes to justify our opinion. Maybe I sound sentimental and naive, but isn´t it a decent idea to just respect each other and learn from each other? *shrug*

Damn I read the title as 'muffed' and was expecting stereotypical hairy german woman type porn with extremely hairy muffs, or at least a link to a survey indicating German women, hairy or not, were well into a bit of cunnilingus.
Flowery Twats fotehwin though !1!1!!oneone etc...

Star > Sun for titties and comedy problem pages. (I read one recently "My son is gay... does he need to be taken in hand?" no word of a lie, I cried laughing)

As for hating garmanz, I hate the thieving chavs and pikies far more than I could ever hate people that build such good cars AND take their beer so seriously :D

gifv beer, bratwurst and sauerkraut imo and we'll just forget about all that nasty war business OK?

Poor old Germans..I dunno you start one measly war.

Do you remember the Simpsons episode when Lisa is walking round a science fair and she watches a German safety video showing crash dummies hitting a wall in a car, suddenly one of the dummies twitches and she shouts

'hang on they're not dummies!!'

The guy pulls a curtain across the screen as ushers her out.

Funny, but really, make a joke like that about the Americans behaviour in Iraq prisons...oh deyd be righton your sorry ass.

The Sun, daily star and the rest of those shit papers need burned. There coverage of sports, news, and anything else is crap. Those papers are aimed at kids or people with the brain capacity of a newt.

I don't read broadsheet papers alot, but those tabloid papers are shit tbh. Only tabloid i will read is the Daily Record, and thats because it has an amazing sports coverage ;)

Celtic supporter by any chance? :p
Yeah I'll admit I read The Hun on a daily basis but I dont believe the vast majority of the crap thats in it. Or any newspaper for that matter.
Far better to source your information from something like Sky News.
(Except when Sky News starts doing silly shit like interviewing Wayne Rooney's granny half way through the European Championships.
It aint like theres another 10 players on the field is there?
Nope..... England was a 1 man team and Wayne Rooney's granny was a font of all footballing knowledge.
When they do stuff like that.... switch off.)

a think a lot of the bitterness over british and germans is probably the fact that many british feel hard done to by the fact that germany lost the war yet now are way more successful than the uk

I personally dont have any trouble with germans, its the french i cant stand :p

No one in England is bitter towards Germany. That's a myth. The media and football fans might like to poke fun at them now and again but that's hardly being bitter. Your average Englishman has nothing against them whatsoever.

Anyway, isn't it about time we started looking at eachother as people rather than nationalities? The Medieval times are long gone as is WWI & WWII, so I really don't see the need for us to be still going on about how "this nation doesn't like this nation" etc. etc. I think that the German foreign minister was being a bit stupid by bringing this up in the first place.
