So I've gone from me voodoo to a Geforce 2 and nearly started to cry when I tried Tribes using the Opengl thingy on me shiny new card, Anyone got any performance enhancing tips for me, or should I just stick with software mode?

Unless you have a serious CPU the v2s are better.
I have a 500mhz and a geforce, and i still use 2 voodoo2s for tribes.
On the other hand ive seen a p3-650 run great with a geforce in tribes.

I use a GeForce DDR/PIII 500 with Tribes and have managed to get decent FPS after a lot of trial and error. The best drivers by a long shot for Tribes and a GeForce are v3.84 (Detonator 1), the Detonator 2 and 3 drivers give a lot less fps in Tribes. I don't know if its the same for the GeForce 2 but its worth trying. You can dl the drivers from http://www.reactorcritical.com/, I don't think they have 3.84 but 3.9 should be as good.

I also found that if I enabled Side Band Addressing using Creative's AGP Wizard I gained at least 10 fps.

My Graphics settings are: Textures Detail high, Terrain Detail medium, Lighting Detail low, Decal Detail low, Shape Detail medium, Damage Detail medium. This seems to give the best balance between looking good and speed.

The only problem with using the Detonator 1 drivers is that they don't work for Diablo 2. Can't win em all :).

Had a crappy Banshee and recently upgraded to an ASUS Geforce 2 GTS 32mb DDR. Used the drivers on the CD it shipped with. I have an Athlon 600 and 128mb ram.

I get blinding frame rates with no probs at all :).

The difference is great - have fun.

Yeah you need a decent CPU, i'm running a Duron 600 with 256MB of ram with a GeForce DDR, before I got the Duron I had a Celeron300 and I got 10-30 FPS, with the Duron fitted I get 40-120 FPS (all options turned to high quality and 1024 x 786 res.)

I'm using the latest drivers (6.18) and running Win2k

Just don't install any of Crunchy's Scripts, they'll kill your FPS ;) I could never get them to work anyway :p

Is there a way of getting your fps without using the console in-game, ie a benchmarking program of some sort?
thanks

Cheers crunchy, that works a treat, now all you have to do is tell me why i get an average of 35fps at 800x600 ;) v-g-s!
I have a pIII with a riva tnt2 card and 64megs of ram. Is an average of 35fps normal?
Thanks again tho
