I have just built myself (which much help) a new pc which has the following spec:

1.8gig amd processor
512meg sdram
40gig hd
geforce II mx400 64mb (TV Out) graphics card
MB is a PC266 M810 series

I play Counterstrike and Day of Defeat, but am unable to get the games to work on opengl - keeps saying that this mode is not supported - which is contrary to what the card's spec says.

I have tried downloading the nvidia detonator drivers (two sets) - when installed I lost my display - just thousands of pretty coloured vertical lines for the first set (ver 23.xxxx) and just a blank screen the second (these were the very latest ones).

Could someone suggest a way to overcome this please - in a way that a dumbo like me can understand???

Yes m8, throw it in the bin.:D

Lo Neo m8. Just a thought, have you uninstalled the old drivers before installing the new ones. It may be worth a go.

Otherwise you could check here for some (by some, I mean fekin thousands) FAQs on the GeForce cards.

Hope it helps m8y.

BTW, is it possible for someone to move this thread into the hardware section, it may get a better response.

You would actually be better off using 98 m8!!! Me is a pile of poo

New drivers from the MANUFACTURER will sort you out methinks :)

DETONATORS are OK for some cards. But some cards run better with drivers released from mt eh manufacturer. Not nessarily faster, but more stable, open GL support, MS approved etc.
