GeForce FX5200

I got to replace my ailing Ti4600 and need a budget card until I can save for something good .... I see the FX5200 on ebay at low low prices. Will it run DAOC for a couple of months with out too much trouble?

or any other ideas? sub £50 for the cheapo card

actually its better than most of the fx series....

5200 is comparable to the MX series of cards aka the shit ones for cheap..

the 4600 is a great card for daoc though, dont see why you feel the need to replace it?

Sorry I wasn't clear enough .... My Ti4600 is on the way out. I have had it tested and if it were a horse they'd shoot it! It's been a bloody good card but wont work in Hardware mode no more. Hence i want something cheap to tide me over while I save.

5600 is bare minimum i'd say

5200 is complete rubbish.. and doesnt run toa properly i was told.

or you could get a radeon 9800 as theyre quite cheap nowadays

I bought the 5200 too while waiting for money to buy a proper card. I had to pull it out again and install an older MX440 card. 5200 is utter crap.

MX440 >> fx5200

But then again, the fx5200 did run toa, but only usefull in lowest resolution and when soloing tbh. When in fg or in a dungeon I was constantly on the edge of ld.

You should get either a fx5900 or radeon 9600/9800.

Yup - you can pick these up for about £80 - £100 and they are great - I think the extra you'd pay over a 5200 is well worth it, as it'll save you upgrading for a year or two.

i have a Sparkle FX5200 and it runs daoc and toa fine, shame the rest of my pc cant keep up :S

my fx5200 is running as smooth as ever. never really have any problems with this cars, but my mx440 never worked properly in ToA....

Im using fx5200, three months ago, and it go very nice, i run two DAoC at same time, and still nice, got a amd 1500, and 1gb ram.
