GeForce 4 Ti shows framerate of like 3 FPS

That's not what I paid 450 Euro for :(

3DMark2001 runs like a dream. Morrowind runs like a dream. DAOC runs like I just installed a 4 color Hercules card.

System:
Windows XP
PIII 733
512 MB RAM
GeForce 4 Ti (latest Detonator drivers installed - tried other drivers too)
DirectX 8.1 (all tests in dxdiag run)
Apollo Pro133a mother board (latest VSI drivers installed)
Realtek-compatible network card

Looks like the game is running in software rendering mode. I tried both the Direct 3D as the Voodoo settings in the Options screen, to no avail.

Looks like the game doesn't see I have one of the best card available, and is putting the entire burden on my processor.

Help?

Sounds really odd if you have all the latest drivers installed....
Only thing i can think of is make sure you have selected hardware accel. in DAoC...

Well until we get the new graphics engine , thats what you get I think , right now a big processor meen's more than a big Graphics card, and the 700+ mhz pIII just aint that strong

The funny thing is Damon, that I used to run DAOC on W98 on a GeForce2 and had no problems at all! So it can't be lack of processor power can it?

Arneduck - the hardware accel option in DAOC, that's in the Options Screen right? The one that lets you choose between Voodoo and something else? Not? Am I overlooking something and doing something incredibly stupid?

Help me guys! :)

yomar did you also run it under xp with a gf2 card? or did you replace os at the same time you changed gfx card? xp demands a ****load more cpu than 98 and also a lot more memory.

I went from a 1333tbird with 1024 sdram toa 1.8p4 with 768 ddrram and my system loaded faster before..... (I need to get another 256 block ;))

try changing back to 98 and I think your problem will disappear

make sure u don't use the drivers that game with the card.... use detonator ones

my GF4 Ti4400 gave me 5 FPS, and worked fine when I changed drivers (bloody Creative Drivers had no D3D support)

Thanks for your tips all :)

I changed back to W98 and got a slightly better FPS (say 5 instead of 3), but it was still unacceptable.

Also used all kinds of drivers, including the Detonator ones, and that didn't work either.

Sigh.

I gave up and decided it was time anyway for a new system. Waiting for my Pentium 4 2.5 Ghz to arrive in 1-2 weeks now :)

Thanks all for your help, I truly appreciate it :)

you have to re-install DX8.1 , then install the Detonator drivers

I had big troubles too

btw, if you have a VIA MoBo, you need the latest 4in1 drivers too

Heyas Silverhood,

Nope, that did not work. Tried that like 3 times or so, in 3 different OS's. It's a hardware issue I'm afraid.

I bought myself a Dell Dimension 8200 P4 2.5 Ghz with an nVidia GeForce4 Ti 4600.

I just did a win2k reinstall and the game went from running okish at 1200X1024 to less than 5 fps on all screensizes..... no hardware was changed.

I though DAoC used OpenGL - that wrong or right?
