have dual boot system and on win xp i have 8.1 directx drivers installed - all works fine

but my system running win2000/sp3 (the one i want to use) - daoc works fine with the dx7.0, but when i install 8.1b drivers get knackered plygons/graphics bugs etc

have installed all latest drivers for everything i can find but am still unable to use the new dx8.1

Anyone come across anything similar or have any ideas on why the old dx7.0 works and not the new ones.

miffed!?!

You were most likely using beta Dets, which aren't certified. Whichever are the latest official dx-certified drivers will be fine.

I'm having a similar problem with my new Christmas Geforce 4 Ti 4200 w/ 128 Mb that I just installed on my computer (running Windows XP). The game runs fine and looks good, but I get erratic flickering of polygons in the landscape at random times (it's as if the polygons flicker to non-lit state). This is quite annoying. Is this the kind of behaviour that the original poster meant?

So, reading these replies, it seems as if reverting to older, certified drivers will work? Does anyone know which ones, specifically, will work? I am using the 41.09 release candidate. The 40.72 release does seem certified, will it work, does anyone know?

Btw, ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/ has all of the new and old Nvidia drivers.

I've got exactly the same problem with a Geforce 4 ti 4600 (and winXP), flickering skyline (using the latest drivers). Its when the light level of the skyline begins to change, ie. day --> night - but it seems to flash white between each shade. Its kind of annoying - I find myself looking at the floor during these times. I think it must be a problem with the latest drivers, my old Geforce 3 ti200 (which used the same unified driver, but was at an older level) didn't have the problem.

Guess we'll just have to wait for nvidia to release some brand spanking new ones...
