I have a geforece 4 ti 4200 with the 42.01 drivers which are betas but u can get them from guru3d.com . I installed the directx 9 drivers which work well. I wanted to know if there are any directx 9 demos that will run on this card. Or if there is anyway to run the ati demos on this card.

No, since the GF4 Hardware doesn't actually support DX9 properly.

hmmmm I thought That's the whole point of layered systems. Sofware talks to the API, not the hardware. DirectX is the same. I can see not being able to run demos and things like that that are specifically geared to run on certain cards. But most directx 9 software, even though there woulnt be any true dx9 software out for awhile, should run on this card. RIGHT!?!?? It wouldnt make sense anyways I ran all dx8 software on my geforce 256 even though that wasnt compliant with it. I just thought since the dx9 drivers work under the new beta 42.01 denonator drivers that it might work.

it may be possible that dx9 makes calls that the gf's gpu can't handle directly.

The only cards currently on the market that fully support DX9 are Radeon 9500 and 9700 series, soon to be joined by the GeForce FX.

Pffft. I'm running DirectX9 with my Ti4400 using 41.09 drivers (which aren't beta, by the way. nVidia officially released them.) Runs fine. No probs.

Obviously DirectX9 allows functionality which the Ti series doesn't know about, but it will cope with everything very well.*

*barring any code problems discovered. I dare say DX9.1 isn't too far away...

I'm running DX9 with my Ti4600 but it still don't support it fully, in fact DX9 does very little more than slightly optimize the features in DX8.1 on such cards.

BTW the newer drivers will be DX9 compliant (42.01 etc), meaning they should suit DX9 better but won't in reality change much.

yea I have the 42.01 installed now but theres nothing thats out that really utilizes directx 9 so I havent seen a difference. Id say wait to install directx 9 until things start coming out that are coded for it.

Any games that are coded to use DX9 new features will be disabled on a non DX9 card.
