Geforce 3 det 40.71 sort BF fps problem?

Well as if by magic my fps is back to normal, not 100% sure why but I think it might have been the det 40.41 drivers.

Before I had terrible fps even with everthing on minimum, now I run at 1024x720 100% view distance, rest on medium.

I had just change my mobo+cpu tbird1.2 - xp2200. But it was the same after upgrading.

Only trouble with those 40.71 is the control panel doesn't work, but I've been using riva tuner anyway.

Any one else had similair?

Recent Dets are important for good performance in BF however the consensus among our band of happy bunnies is that the 30.82s are the best currently available. A lot of people have had problems with the 40.x drivers, with corrupted graphics and the like. Some people have muttered about this being because the drivers clock the memory higher than previous versions but I haven't read anything reliable about this.

I agree with mendie on that one, the 30:82 are better as the 40`s change the clock speeds not by much and make them unbalanced clock speed and mem speed in the cards, stick with certiflied drivers and not beta`s..

I had shitloads of Problems with the 40 Drivers, in Games such as Battlefield, Champ Manager and CS... i unistalled em and put 30's on and fixed all the problems

I had the 40. drivers which were great for every game, particularly RtCW.
However i downloaded the UT2003 demo and it fucked up my pc so badly I had to reformat
I would be careful with them drivers is my advice.

The 40.41's screwed my pc right up, but the 40.71's seem fine. have noticed a slight fps rise with them, and no problems so far.
Using Gef3.

i first installed the 40.41 and the control panel wouldnt work and games would crash after a level load, so i uninstalled all my GFX card drivers and reinstalled and it now works like a dream. tried the 40.71, same problem, but i couldnt fix them this time, so i reverted back to 40.41.

Damn PC's are tempramental.

i just had a new xp install, and I'm using the 40.41 drivers, and I've had 0 problems.

Infact, they are working perfectly

I downloaded UT2003. I played a map. At the map restart the pc turned itself off. Literally turned itself off. Continued to do this for a couple of days. Then started doing it in RtCW, even in the 3dmark test. 3rd day wouldnt even switch on , just tried to laod windows, then restarted every time. Before this happened I tried old drivers (30.xx) , the original drivers (dunno ) , and a couple of system restores. All made no difference. Now the pc was working perfectly before UT2003, so it was either that download itself, or the drivers compatabilty with the game. In the read me it actually says "may have problems with 40.xx beta drivers". Though of course i never read that till after, like no doubt most ppl wouldnt.
This pc is a nearly new Athlon 2.0xp with a GF4 4400 vid card and asus mobo etc.
Please dont give me the buy a pc manual lark, its a bit silly

Well, you see what I would have done was this:

1. Uninstall all video drivers
2. Reboot into default (VGA) mode
3. Download 30.82
4. Install 30.82
5. Reboot

But to reinstall Windows???

Actually, to "reformat" ?!?!?!?!?!?

Seems a bit like buying a new car just coz your batteries flat.

No m8, perhaps you didnt read my post completely. I did all that. All that. After 3 days the pc would not even load windows. Please understand. Ive not seen you on BW forums before, but on the HL forums Im quite well known. What Im trying to say is I know a little bit of what Im doing.

that I had already done what you said. In fact, trying to start up purely in VGA was the last thing I tried, the next reboot was the one that first led into the cycle of start , load reaboot, oever and oever again.
Before this happened means "before the whole thing stopped working at all ".

I had a few problems with the 40. drivers too with the gf4 mx, first of all the screen size was screwed up and there was a pretty big drop in fps, unistalling and reloading the 30.82 drivers fixed the problems right away.
