Ge-Force 4/Boot up trouble...

I recently upgraded my gfx card from a voodoo3 to a ge-force 4, and since then, my PC sometime will not bootup at all.

You turn on, and nothing happens, literally. No BIOS, no beeps, nothing. Put the voodoo back in, and it's fine. Put the ge-force in again, and sometimes it will boot. Once it's up, it's fine. I have flashed the BIOS successfully, but it did nothing.

My only option atm is to not power off the PC.

Here's the specs -

AMD 1600
Abit KT7 version 1.3 m/board
Asus V8420 Ge-Force 4 Ti 4200 128Mb
512 Mb SDRAM
S/Blaster 128

Anyone got any ideas? The BIOS has been flashed, with these 2 version from the Abit website, and neither made a difference...

kt7s9r.exe and
kt7sb4.exe

I'm stumped and need help...

You need to completely uninstall your Voodoo drivers before going to the GF card.

Are you sure that will make a difference?

The drivers are to allow the card to work in Windows, yet the PC will not even reach the BIOS, which is WAY before the PC even looks at the drivers that are installed.

The motherboard looks at the video card BIOS, then the m/b BIOS, then it starts the boot into windows.

The problem is that the motherboard doesn't detect the gfx card before touchibng the BIOS.

Voodoo drivers will not kick in until Windows booting up. Also, when I AM able to boot the PC with the GF, it runs perfect.

Well no, I'm not SURE it'll make a difference, but I have seen more than once people who have gone from a 3DFX card to an Nvidia card having lots of problems.
And other people have posted my suggested solution here.
Apparently some DLL file is overwritten with the voodoo files, (Which means you may need to restore a windows file I'll have a look to see which one if that is the case.) which causes the conflict with the Nvidia card.

And no, I'm not giving any guaranteees, but it's worth a shot.

kt7's are said to have problems with geforce 2', I currently run a geforce3 and I do get a start up problem now and again due to the card not being sat in the agp slot comfortably.
Like someone else said it sounds like not enough power is being supplied, if you have less than 300W then a 300W/350W psu will be enough.

its niothing to do with the psu being 300 watt,
its cos the agp slot on the mobo is set at a voltage and the agp card u is useing isnt getting supplied enough power , simple as that really.

i seen it quite a few times in the past.

the only way ur going to stop is like i said before new more upto date mobo and then u will be ok.

alot of new gfx cards i.e ati 9700 / as its own power connector cos the mobo cant supply enough power to it through the AGP slot.
