and which console features a game where i can beat the shit out of Pikachu (Super Smash Bros, May 24th, Nintendo GameCube). In the end, isn't that what REALLY matters?

Dolby II, which is backward compatible with the old Dolby 5.1 and standard Dolby decoders, allows full 5.1 data to be encoded into the analogue stereo stream. The result is full 5.1 if you have any kind of Dolby decoder

BS Dolby Prologic II is an enhancement of 4.1 speaker set ups
and there aint no fucking way yer can encode 5.1 digtal signal down a analouge stereo stream.not possible.

Yes conected to Dolby prologic II comaptible amp it sounds better than an amp that can just decode prologic (alot of stuff will sound good).

BTW: They got it right that the GC cpu is basically a G3 Powerpc cpu, but that means the CPU can get through twice as much work as the equivalent intel/amd "PC" cpu, thus giving it an effective mhz rating of 970Mhz in comparison to the X-Box's 733Mhz Intel CPU.

A bit OT but yaka do you know if the PS2 has the power to have DD5.1 or even DTS(which would be supurb) in the whole game. In know that some games have 5.1 intros eg MGS2 and Wipeout, but can it handle it real time. Imagine GT4(or whatever there gonna call it) in full 5.1, being able to know what side the car behind you in on without looking!!!

Yes the ps2 should be abel to cope with DD 5.1 games in real time if the creators of a game wanted to put the effort in, but as i understand it mem restrictions are often quoted fer ps2.

on MSGII the while i played it the game swithced to full DD5.1 sound during some of the clips while i was playing though that actual gameplay part uses prologic .

also you have to realise alot of jap homes are really realy small and many jap gamers havent bothered with DD 5.1 setups so many games from japan will prolly not feature it.
