Gaming problems

Just moved home and my dad has a local isp (a powersupplier going broadband). I play dota in dota.pickup. To host games we/they use a program that makes it less laggy, think its kinda like Hamachi.
where i lived before i had no problems, prima connection, slower than my current but no problems dota wise. now i disconnect from the games often (almost all the time) while not disconnecting from vent/irc/whatever.
I called their support and they couldnt really help me (surprise) so im turning to you - What can i do to find the problem?
