hi , im using an abit kt7a duron 750mhz , 3d prophet 2mx . 384mb of memory on win98 . Every game i play a game it is jerky , i have my monitor refresh rate @ 60hz , and everything looks to be okay , i've used fresh cfg.s and i just dont know why could any body either post here for suggestions or email me , much appreciated , ads

Why do ypu have your montior at 60Hz, you'll end up with headaches.

Wow wack up the refresh m8!!! Before your eyes burn out and die!!! 85Hz will do nicely.
As with regard to performance, what games are you trying to play??? If they are recent titles then your PC spec only just meets the recomended game spec So wack off all the options in the game.

Download nu M/B chipset drivers, Vid Drivers, Sound Drivers. Install them, the re-install direct x 8.0

You might also like to think about a nu CPU Duron 750 could be nicely upgraded to 1.0Ghz T-Bird Athlon

It can be... However I feel it should be able to go higher. This might be resolved with nu vid drivers.....

I mean his max can't be 60Hz unless it is at max res in which case some monitors can only handle 60Hz.

it's only 60hz

only 60hz :/ but i have had games running on it smoothly b4 , the games im trying to play are Quake3 mainly , however i occasionaly pop on2 a ra2 server and quake 2 is jerky , it was smoother on my voodoo 2 !!!

Well if it WAS running games OK before, then something MUST have changed!!! Nu hardware??? NU software??? Tried the old classic clean re-install???

i've reinstalled many times :/ would using a diff os make any difference ?

Go to your graphics card manufacters website, and get them. Same goes for sound, M/B. Just find out what hardware you got, and who makes it.

I know i'm explaining this really badly... sorry!

nope , since i've re-installed windows it has being crap
i did do a refresh re-install and used all the drivers i used before but it was still jerky
