I borrowed my brothers for a weekend last year (with Mario Kart) and kept saying I was going to get one.


Now though, I am having second thoughts. I rarely played my GBC to be honest and recently sold it.


Even though the Flashlinker makes purchasing one a good proposition (if you know what I mean;) ) I still can't get myself to buy one.:(


Infact, I went into Computer Exchange in London today armed with over £150 credit with them (from various exchanges I have done in the past) with the intention of getting a GBA (£75 new BTW:clap: ) but still pulled out at the last moment.


Anyone really love their GBAs wanna persuade me?

I wouldn't mind one but the problem of no backlight makes it impossible.

i wouldnt get one, only has moderatley improved graphics over the previous incarnation because the screen is borked, and the sound isnt too impressive either :/

this is of course from experience's playing with a mates GBA though mind you ;)

They're nice for a 2D fix (but so is an emulator hehe).

Imo they're only woth getting if you travel alot..i dont really use mine much.

btw have a look at this for a back-lit solution..(requires opening and soldering(?) of gba though).

brought mine last year and don't play it much - useful for long journeys tho but it's hard while i'm driving :D

Mario kart is a definate worth while purchase, Fzero is well hard!

Pretty much what I was expecting in answers.

My bro hardly touches his GBA either and I don't have time to play it on the go either.



Ah well. Better use my computer Exchange credits for the Gamecube then.

35 quid a game is a total rip off.

MOHAA=30 quid. Endless mods, Endless multiplayer, long dev time, worth your cash.

Fzero= 35 quid. An 8 year old game, just rehashed with little or no dev time, been copied many times over, mostly by better games in the genre.


Which one is more deserving of your cash.

Ohh yeah, i have one, and a 128mb flash cart and an endless supply of roms.


It's nintendos biggest scam ever.

You are not wrong about the rip-off price for the GBA Carts.


If I ever did get a GBA then my first game cart would be the FlashLinker and 256 Meg kit.:p

get some headphones, with gba, I fink ppl stare because they're bored and hear those beeps. ( A decent color, not white, something dull would help) :eek: :p

Ahh, fuck it.

Since the Gamecube is going to be so cheap I am gonna get a GBA after all this weekend.


Just went and ordered a FlashLinker tonite as well in anticipation.

Well, there were a few other things which made me decide to get one apart from GC being so cheap:

Advance Wars looks good

SuperMarioWorld looks ace


My commute to work has a 45 min period where I get a seat AND the trains have good lighting:)

The FlashLinker is brilliant. **cough**cough**

I have seen quite a few people on the train with them so they are getting ore socially acceptable.:p


May as weel. Oh and there price is dropping from Friday.

Just cause the carts are smaller doesnt mean the price should be. Any new game for any new system should be around that price. I managed to get GTA3 for about £25 ( :) ) but even if I payed the full amount I would be happy. £25 for over 100+ (so far) hrs of gaming is a bargain.

just get Boycott Advance (Emulator) and be happy that you saved 80 quid or whatever and got the same graphical joy....

The screen is shites at home, but luckily the lighting on the trains for my 45mins commute are superb and I have no problems.

One of the big deciding factors in me actually getting it was the Flashlinker and I have to say that I am delighted with it and the endless possibilities. ;)


The GBA is actually a stunning piece of hardware (more powerful than the SNES) and some of the games on it are really really playable.

Currently I have 6 games on the linker:

MarioAdvance 2 (basically an updated SNES SMW)
Advance Wars
Tekken Advance
Mr Driller 2
Golden Sun
Gradius Advance



In conclusion:

FLASHLINKER MAKES OWNING ONE WORTH IT!

I read somewhere that theres a place that will fit a backlight in the GBA, but i was a bit gutted when on xmas morn i excitedly opened me GBA(im 29 FFS) only to find that i had to wear a miners helmet and torch just to see the fooking screen, it is a terrible, terrible idea by Nintendo not to put a backlight on an otherwise top lickle console:(

You couldn't handle her m8:p and as for wild i drive a saab and wear slippers, you can't get more wild than that;) hmmmmm may buy a pipe today.She also earns over twice what i get, and she worked out yesterday that we could manage easily if i lose my job, which is nice:D
