Game Widows?

The BBC have posted an article looking into how the rush of big gaming titles has impacted some households, mainly how the other half is left watching tv, while the other is plugged into a top class game...

"With big-name games selling by the bucketload in the run-up to Christmas, and the fact that thousands of people are signing up to broadband each week in the UK, the online gaming bug must be infecting many relationships. "

This is debatable? How do you balance out a relationship with gaming?

I usually wait until the girlfriend is in bed before wheeling out the PS2 for a game of GTA: SA or on weekends I fire up a game of a game of Total War. Apart from the times where she wants to head out and I swear I need just "5 more minutes..." then WWIII breaks out, I usually get away with some quality gaming time.

The full article can be read here.

It is kinda up and down if we are being honest.... the world is ok if JBP has a game he enjoys, however when he gets bored things start getting a bit bleh then :p

You have to understand that living with JBP is like living with Bagpuss.... when JBP sleeps then you must sleep, when JBP needs to eat then you must provide and when JBP is playing MXO then you must fuck off into your own world and let him KUNG FU!!

I feel that playing computer games is no worse than watching mundane soaps or the history channel endlessly. My last relationship ended because of my husbands obsession with Emerdale Farm (after being subjected to 6 hours of this on a Saturday from two different eras I decided enough was enough).

JBP and I have gaming quite well balanced but like all things sometimes we do forget and we are here to remind each other of that when it does happen :)

I'm sure Damini will testify to being a gaming widow at times when new games come out. If the games got any sort of storyline then she's quite happy watching me play. I'm allowed to play GTA:SA so long as I have a spray can with me to do any tags she spots.

I have found that I can't balance a MMORPG with a relationship (yeah ok im 16 small relationship yadayada), but being in a relationship makes me stop playing.. so I guess it shows me what better stuff there is to do with my life :p

Normal games are fine, I can play whenever, and nobody gets upset ;)
