Along with cutting 350 staff, Vivendi Universal have closed parent company Sierra. This is part of VU's company restructuring program.

"The venerable games company created some of the most popular action and adventure games in the 80's. The Sierra brand will live on in name only and projects tied to the Sierra pipeline, Half-Life 2, Ground Control II and Tribes: Vengeance are already being developed by other teams within Vivendi. Also affected by the restructuring, the Hoyle brand of card and board games have been cancelled."

More details here.

Hrmmm, Vivendi publishes though don't they? Not the sister company Sierra (RIP).

I hope it's not too bad an impact, but come to think of it can't be, considering Vivendi recently announced Empire Earth 2.

HL2 to slip another 8-12 months anyone?

sierra has nothing to do with HL2 though, atleast the studio sierra. Basically the games that Sierra made and are worthy of sequels are still gonna be made, just not by sierra studio.

Don't let that kid you into thinking that Valve will pull that out the bag as en excuse, I wouldn't put anything past them at the moment. ;)

"News in, HL2 to be delayed because Gabe's cracked a finger nail".

More like "HL2 delayed 'cos Gabe fell over and rocked himself to sleep trying to get back up"
