Exactly what the title says guys, i was up to date with the board when i went out at 330pm. I come back at 1030pm and have spent about an hr and a half trying to catch up with all the messages.
Which brings me to the same point i've mentioned over and over again. I STILL think there should be a nice list of new messages rather than having to sift them out, especially when a thread what over 40 replies!!!

Its also a very scary little thing a people you don't even know start replying to you to fill your inbox

You get used to the messages thing after a while, I keep track of whats going on at 5 of these boards (well 6 now!) and never have too many problems...

You soon learn what to read and what to ignore...

It would be handy if there was some option that meant you didnt see previously read messages as that would make catching up on long threads much easier.

Yeh, but you soon lose track of where the thread had got to if you don't skim over what came before it... I dunno, I use these boards a lot on other sites and I've found them easier to get into and follow things than any other discussion forum out there... Give it a few weeks to settle down and see what you think then...

BTW Wow - you made member already

I think what we all want to know most of all is... how to get one of those ultra-pissed off Red smilies.

Priorities people.

Maybe longer threads would work better if the actual number of new posts in a thread was indicated or ideally if the new posts were marked as such so you can quickly jump on read any new posts more easily.

It might actually be possible to write a hack that would create an <a name="LastVisit"> tag based on the same cookie that changes the old/new picture...

This would mean you could simply open up a page and jump straight to where you'd got to by the click of a link!!!

I'll have a play with my test UBB tonite although I have a feeling it would be a fair amount of new coding

Nice idea though...

There was a HUGE number of registered people on the old one if anyone ever looked through the search thingummy.

Prolly about ten times what the new one has so far.

Maybe

Errr, I dont see what difference that makes, since 90% of the people who had read/posted on the old one in the last week or so will have registered for this one

Just pointing stuff out. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

so does the
time limit run on messages or when the thread started,

might be tricky if the subject goes on more than 10days, my setting,

also, possible to make that messages instead,
then i can set for 2days, cos i check often
