/edit: actaully, that's a shit example, cos i'm not sure IE does that either, but on a snitz forum, i post and get sent back to topic, avec my post, but not in opera..

All I remember is that Foundationalism is rubbish cos you can't come up with any useful information A Priori.

Descartes tried it by trying to prove a priori that an all-powerful, benevelont god exits (following St Anselm's method pretty much) and therefore that our senses can't really be deceiving us cos that would not be very benevolent of Mr God.

A summary of the ontological argument can be found here

http://www.geocities.com/crinisvilla/meretricula_com/anselm.html

David Hume covered this quite well in one of the chapters of Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion (if I remember the name correctly.) Of course David Hume was also big in championing Empericism over Rationalism, which is a similar type of thing (not the same tho, don't confuse the two or you'll look like a n00b :))

Um, can't remember much more :/

/edit: I remember when I was in a lecture about the ontological argument (gosh, I went to some ?!?) and hearing the idea that a perfect being must exist or it wouldn't be perfect. I spent most of the hour trying to imagine the perfect shag that I could be having instead of being in this lecture. unfortunately I didn't manage to prove it into happening so I concluded the argument must be bolox :D

/edit2: Wow. It's flooding back since I'm now using my tried and trusted essay-method of turning a question I can't remember much about into one I can

Wij0r, you truly are a beast, I'll repay you in sexual favours later....

Thie thing with foundationalism imho, is there is no a priori from what I can see, but then my teacher reckon's i'm quite intensely on the idealist side of things, but heh, I'll get over it.. Hume spoke a lot of sense, mind, from what I've read (first few chapters).

Remember: Existence is NOT a predicate, if you want to get all logical about this stuff :)

Existance is NOT a predicate ;)

Remember, the only necessary being is Godlet, and we're all contingent nobodies, therefore TEH G0D MU5T EXITS!!!21!
