Well, it does take 6 retries (on average) to make 99 quality.

It might take just 2 retries, or maybe 15 retries to make quality 99, u don't know for sure.

When I give a set price for a set quality on an item people know exactly what they get and what they pay for it.
But fell free to just order 1 set of armor.
You might get lucky and get 99 Quality on all the items, but I wouldn't expect that.

Even with these prices I risk losing money, so I don't think u will find prices a lot lower than this, but time will tell...

Where did u get that?

For ur information 2 plats is below the average cost for making the set at 99 quality.

So naturally I am interested in knowing exactly who you bought that set from?
And of course I would like to know if this was a set price?

Actually, a full set of 102af studded works out at 726g 52s 14c for materials.

A retry on a full set comes out at 181g 63s 03c.

6 retries on each piece would give a grand total of 1p 816g 30s 32c. So 2 plat for that set seems a completely reasonable price from a crafter able to soak up the randomness factor.

Of course, you are perfectly welcome to charge a 65% markup on suits you make, but beware that there are many cheaper alternatives out there.

Oh, and 6 retries on all work out to:

Cloth: 714g (40%)
Leather: 1p 210g (65%)
Studded: 1p 816g (65%)
Chain: (error in my spreadsheet, but around 2p 750g).
Plate: 3p 694g (62%)

(XX%) is your apparent markup.

As I said, there are plenty of people making suits on 25-30% markup.

??
My numbers are : 267g 25s 14c for each retry
??

I will check my data again, but I'm pretty sure they are accurate
And for your info I charge Cost + 25 % if people just want me to make 1 set.

If they ask for a fixed price (meaning I have to risk losing money) I will charge (Average)Cost + 50%

Even if your data is correct I would not sell stuff with an average cost of 1800 G for 2 P because there is just too much risk involved + the need to get materials transported from excal to Cornwall or Camelot (rather time consuming)
All this could very well result in me spending 1 to 2 hours getting materials and crafting, to be rewarded with the loss of several 100g's.

I would like to know what the name of the other crafter is, if he is selling stuff at those prices, I might not bother to make any stuff myself, I'll just by the stuff from him (no risk involved) :)

List of Albion's top crafters:

http://www.duskwave.com/daoc/crafterrank.php?server=Excalibur&realm=Albion

As you can see, there are 4 armourcrafters at 1100+ (you're 4th), and 6 tailors at 1100+ (you're 5th). Not hard for someone to shop around for a good deal.

First of all your numbers are incorrect.
My prices are based on retrycost = cost - sellprice
Have u actually made any of these items?
Do you know what the merchants pay for them?
I think not

Names?

Please dont tell me "other people"

I have not heard of other Tailors/Armorcrafters that give fixed prices on 99% sets, but maybe they are doing this on another forum?

Please enlighten me :)

How do you determine your retry cost? Sell to merchant, or salvage?

My retry cost is based on sell, because salvage was nerfed in a patch a while back.

If u are using the salvage values from keltors spredsheet u will get a nasty surprise if u ever actually try to make a crafter instead of throw numbers after me :)

Good, I was just checking :p

And no, I'm not looking at salvage values from anywhere as I know salvaging is crap (has been since 1.50).

- retry cost: 36g 30s 42c

Reinforced Lamellar Boots:
- cost of materials: 48g 11s 40c

Those are the numbers I have for a full set of af102 studded. If there's something wrong in there I'd like to know.

And I do concede that my chain guess was way out. I said error in my spreadsheet.

Cost of chain seems to be 3p 350g for 6 tries each piece (so 4.5 plat a suit at 99% would not seem too bad ;) )

Dont like it, dont buy it.
Need it, but dont feel like spending all that money for it, dont buy it.
You got the money, you need the item, you're "ok" with the price, buy it.

I will check out my prices later tonight
I can't go online with daoc from here.

Gawd I hope you are wrong about those sell prises Pin, otherwise all those hours I spend updating Keltors spredsheet will have been vasted :)

I dunno, seems kinda expensive for the cloth to me...I've seen it on the market for much cheaper...I have no idea about the other armors.

As you can see, there are 4 armourcrafters at 1100+ (you're 4th), and 6 tailors at 1100+ (you're 5th). Not hard for someone to shop around for a good deal.

and actually, he's 6th for tailoring as fangrim left his guild so he doesn't show up on that list.

Oops, my calculations were done with 6 retries + 1 full make, so actually I gave cost for 7 attempts. Prices should be slightly lower (assuming the merchant buy-back rates I have are accurate).

Anyways, I'd be temped by a full 99% leather suit at 1.4plat (which would include a 28% markup) ;)

Or I would if I wasn't holding out for a MP suit anyway.

Just made a Reinforced Lammelar glove :

Merchant offered me 36g 74s 16c for it

My numbers were 30g 61s 80c

Seems like ur numbers (although not precise) are a lot better than mine :-(

Sry about that, I will try and find more accurate numbers for my spreadsheet.

Might I ask where you got yours?

All I can say is 'THANK FUCK I DON'T WEAR PLATE!' ... I would have to camp the goblins solo for about a week before I could come up with 6 plat! :-o

dont complain about prices. it took him more time and money for him to get to his craft lvl then it takes for you to farm the money to get it.you can get 1P a way in DF at lvl50 if you have a good group.so if you think hes expiesive dont buy.

I had cross-checked in a couple of places, but this one is pretty simple.

Thanks Pin, for helping me get my spreadsheet right.

Sorry if i came across as arrogant/stupid/whatever.

I was just very sure about my numbers being right.

(Boy I hate it when I am wrong)

Will make new posts with other prices when I am done updating my spreadsheet.

All I really want is a lot of happy customers :)
